As with every Jeep; you lift them and they take on a whole new character. There are no two Jeeps alike and each owner needs to be satisfied with the end result.
Mike; Simon and crew all treated me like family. Mike listened to my question with true concern even though he was half dead from what sounded like the cold from hell! These Unlimiteds are a bit touchy when lifted and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another. I've heard of guys having to take away some caster on Unlimiteds to cure front end problems. Mine was just the opposite. I needed cam bolts installed to add caster. Mike/his mechanic figured this out pretty quickly.
Mike then showed me how flexy the stock tierod is and how it amplifies death wobble and shimmy. I then became interested in a steering solution. The Currie setup had been suggested by Mike and Simon, but I kept thinking about a crossover setup. I said from the beginning that I wouldn't cut this rig up, so I finally bought the Currie steering due to rave reviews and the fact that it is a bolt on solution.
I completed the steering install yesterday. My Jeep now meets all my expectations on road. There's no more squirrely steering and the handling is excellent. Ima grinnin from ear to ear!!! :D
I always get a kick out of people wanting the "stock" ride and handling from their lifted Jeeps. The stock ride and handling sucks!!! Can you say "body roll" and "pogo stick?" The Wrangler coils and shocks are much too soft and if you drive like me; it taint no Lambo! My new setup drives like it's on rails and holds the road quite well. :)
I just wanted to say thanks to 4 Wheelers for a job well done and for the expert advice.
