ladder bar material ..?

thanks to those that provider the 3/4" heim, jam nut, missalignemnts, and weld in bung.....

The bung is 1" OD.. ( slightly less to fit in a 1" ID tube) .

Cutting apart my old Smas bar was usless.. It's bent for one thing.. and the tubing used was 1" OD...

SO what material should I use ? type / size / amount ???

Depends on what you plan on using them for . If your running them on the street / high HP / ??? . If you need some strength go 11/2 250wall if not 1 1/4 pipe .

Call rob at 4WS for the tube and you can grab pipe all over the valley .

are you saying to use 1 1/4" pipe (AKA depot stuff) or tubing ?

Here's what I've decided... I'm using the 1.25" 120 wall on the top bar of the ladder. and using the 1.25 material sleeved with a 1.5" .120 wall tube... 3/4" heim on the end and bushings out back.......

Strong enough for a 4:10 geared 4.0 YJ ???? we'll find out.

TO those guys that fab ALLOT ...... anything I should be watching for on notching hte sleeved tube ?

It really depends on how you drive and how much your rig lays on the bars , I have seen 2" 250wall bend, 2" solid bend and 1.25"x250 sleeved with 1.5?120 wall and it can still be bent .When I build my next one I will pay for 2" aluminum(alumi-flex) and be done with it , I have yet to see that stuff break although anything is possible . Here's what I finally made.... I think it turned out pretty OK

32" long 1.25 x .120 wall top bar... weld in bung and 3/4" heim
lower bar is 1.25 x 120 wall sleeved with 1.5" 120 wall.

little support bars are left over 1" x188 wall DOM

all Bushings and hardware provided by Cole over at 4 Wheelers ......

ANy recomendation on the material for the cross members ?

1.75x.120 wall should be just fine. Try annd keep above the skid plate though ;)
