Well, first time I assembled a complete unit from parts purchased from all over, but the ar15 came out sweet, probably have about 6bills into it, but what a treat to build it, site it and run some ammo thru it.
Used a 20 inch barrel as opposed to the 16'' most of the units have at gun show and trades around town, at `125 yds, very accurate, dialed it in about 15 rounds, shoots excellent group.
Very tempermental as to ammo, and the clips used, had several aftermarket clips, ok, but problems came up as rounds went thru weapon, found the follower in the aftermarket clips was already wearing out, the colt units were by far excellent, will continue to purchase them, forget about the aftermarket, not happey at all with them.
The mini 14, a sweet shooter, a couple of my daughters were along with the son inlaws to be we burned up a lot of ammo, the mini will become a truck gun, accurate and easy to shoot, not too particular on ammo.
I had two types of ammo, GI issue 223 and the high end wolf ammo, the new ar15, (we had about 6 with us) didn't like the wolf ammo, at first thought it was the clips fault but after two of the units had the brass casing expand and stick in the barrels we were onto the gi issue ammo.
Anyway, first stick build of a weapon, other than a bow, am extremely happy, also the first hand knowledge you get during the build is priceless to diagnoss problems.
The M1 Garand, WOW, no wonder the WW11 Guys kicked their ***, what a weapon, accurate, fast (very heavy) but after running almost 400 rounds thru it, it operated as if it hadn't been shot. Very happy with the purchase and the unit as a whole. Only need the M1 Carbine to complete my collection.
hey good shooting was had by all.

Ive put an AR together for a buddy of mine...had hte upper complete, but built the lower...was alot of fun...and came out great..

As for mags...order a lot of green followers...and new mag springs...and replace those parts...make sure the mags are clean inside as well.

good luck with your rifle...and BTW, they are MAGS not clips...clips feed magazines...or adorn yer purdy hair! ;)
