(Just kidding Joe. Little humour in light of your past posts that delt with

Ok, I'm sitting here by the door awaiting the FedEx guy and a
truck full of hardware for the Jeep. If he comes today I can still
make a plan to bolt my lift on at John Butler's house on Sunday. I
will be gone all day tomorrow, so if it comes on Friday I won't know,
and I won't be able to wait another week to bolt it on. Agh! The
agony. Funny part, though, is that I don't have tires yet, so I'll
be rolling around on the stockers until I get some meats. The Super
Swampers developed a serious case of separation anxiety last week,
and I had to revert to the tiny factory tires! I still can't believe
that THREE out of four SSRs delaminated at the same time. Hugely out
of round, they were 31" when measured from one direction, and across
a perpendicular diameter measured 38"!!! Needless to say it was a
very bumpy ride until I slowed down to about a dead stop. And talk
about scary! Ever have that happen to a locked rear diff at highway
speeds and you'll know what it's like to seriously need a fresh set
of shorts!!! Not funny, BTW...

Anyone have any used 35x12.5 tires they might be selling sometime soon? My
Jeep is starting to look silly with 5.5 inches of lift and 33x10.5 tires.

I was actually contact by Nathan from JYW's about a year ago to be the
expert in the baja and sandrail competition they did awhile back. I got as
far as making a short video and sending it in but had to back out at the
last min because of a new job that I had just got.
At the time they did film it in England and I was told they couldn't film it
in the US for insurance reasons. Also the contest does take place over a
few days but they only have 10 hours to go through the scrap pile and build
it the rest of the time is interviews and some saftey training. All those
times you see the hosts talk to them that doesn't count against their 10
hour time limit and when they are eating that doesn't count either. Right
before they run their machines they give them a few hours of "tinker time"
to fix anything small that might be wrong. The junkyard is seaded with
items that are necessary to meet the objective. Also the english lady host
was actually the one who came up with the idea of JYW's as an educational
show for younger people.

Fleg

----Original Message Follows----
Guys,

I think you will find this series is being filmed in the USA. I didn't see
anything English in the Junkyard this time. Even the old bus was now a
Brill and not a Duple as in past series. You don't get hills in the
distance like the skyline showed either.

Peter.

I'd love to go on that show!!!

That show was my inspiration to go buy a welder and learn how to weld
(still in the process, I've got the welder, but haven't used it too
much).

If you guys are serious about going on, I'd love to join the team.
I've got a couple years of mechanical engineering experience, so I
could possibly be an asset to the team!!!

Calm down folks check out their website. I hate to burst your bubble but
if you are not on the list you are not on the list. They have stopped
taking applications. However you can get on their email list and you
will be notified of when they will start taking more applications. It
seems that they got quite a few for this year and are holding the extra
names for their next series. So it may be awhile. But I am sure it will
be worth the wait.

Good luck.

Hey there everyone. I'm getting ready to move, and I need to clear out some

plastic bumper ends. I've got the front set and the rear set, both with
screws. Anyone need 'em? They're going in the trash otherwise. Oh... I also
found the little trumpet piece that comes out of the airbox, if anyone can
find a use for it, its yours.

I am having the same problem on my YJ with a 4.0. Just started to leak on
Monday, but not too terribly fast... then yesterday it was gushing. Last
night I grabbed hold of the hose and pushed it upward on to the engine block
to try and get it sealed... then today it wasn't leaking when I got to my
friends house this morning (carpool) then when I got to work it was leaking
again.

I plan on replacing the hose and clamps this weekend by myself... shouldn't
be that hard.. just a bit messy.

Ill let you know how it goes.

I was driving home on Tuesday and found my Wrangler
overheating. I stopped and found my radiator empty.
Luckily I had some water with me, so I filled it up
and lucked under my jeep and had water dripping from
my engine. Finally got home, after 2 more fill ups,
and looked underneath. Looks like the seal/gasket
around the water pump is leaking. The water is coming
out from above the lower radiator hose next to the
block.

I have the 4 cyl. How difficult is it to replace the
water pump or is there a place in the east valley that
is resonable?

Just curious,

Lee

Subject: [TR] Martinez Canyon - Saturday, September 29, 2001 - Reminder

Hello All,

Jason LaLiberty is leading a Martinez Canyon trail run on Saturday, September 29, 2001.

When: 8:00am
Where: Meet at the turn to Florence off 60.
Rating: 4.0+
Length: 6-8 hours
CB Channel: 4

Never run this trail before, but would like to try it.

Martinez Canyon has to be one of the most beautiful canyons south of the Sedona AZ red bluffs. To reach the trailhead you travel over rolling hills of desert cactus, shrubs and trees. All of a sudden you enter a narrow passageway into a canyon of deep red bluffs and cottonwood trees.

Most of the year there is a spring that winds through the trees and low area. You will find the old homestead at the grouping of cottonwood trees along with some old mining generators and storerooms. Just past the homestead you will drop into the wash and follow it to the old mill.

The road winds back and forth across the wash as well as follows the wash for a time but the trail stays in the wash. You can spend hours "playing" on the rocks and waterfalls.

A mile or so into the wash you will approach a large landslide blocking the wash so the trail starts up the switchback trail "to the top of the world". The view from the top of the mountain is breathtaking.

As you start back down the switchback trail you will find it has been washed out, big time! The washout cuts through several of the "switchbacks" in a cut approximately 8 feet deep and 8 foot wide, so down you go. After a drop into the washout you will crank a hard left turn and literally freeslide on the loose gravel/dirt about 200 yards.

The first comment made from one of the original founders is the best description to the end of a great day of wheeling. "This is better than an 'E' Ticket ride at Disneyland! It's wheel'n the luge!"

This trail is definitely for the "extreme" vehicle as well as an experienced driver. Lockers are required and 33" tires and maximum clearance are a must.

Enjoy and remember to TREAD Lightly!

Mountaineer Rack is black in color, for a T.J. only!! The rack bolts on to the middle roll bar and rear roll bar (no drilling required). The rack sits over the back of the rear passenger seat. I also installed a high lift jack holder onto the rear of the rack which works great!. There is nothing wrong with the rack very stable does not rattle, and can hold lots of weight. Great for the Offroad. The rack is about 6 months old. I will not need the rack anymore, with a HardTop.

Subject: Wrenching Party Sunday Sept. 30th for Lachlan

It's a go. Lachlan got his RE lift today and were ready to help him put it in on Sunday. I think if we get started around 7:30AM we'll have plenty of time to get it done before it gets too damn hot. Mike Baney, don't forget the half inch drill and 5/8's bit. Anyone that would like to come and help or just hang out for a little while and talk Jeep is welcome. I live in the far East Valley, Ellsworth and Guadalupe area.

If you would like to come by please call me for directions.

My cell number is: (602) 432-0173
My home number is: (480) 354-9947
Friday will be the best day to get a hold of me as I will be in Prescott on Saturday.

Best Regards,

John Butler
