Hey, someone, over on JU, actually asked the inverse of this, that is, "if I
take 8 inch springs (like Skyjackers) and cut the in half can I install them
and have a 4 inch lift?" !!

First off to Jason and Daren, I will call you tonight about the parts.
Sorry about not getting back sooner, been up to my butt in alligators
lately.
On the front drive shaft I am looking to get for my CJ, it is 30 3/4
center to center at rest but doesn't have to be a front only. I have a
T18A, custom skid and custom exhaust so can go with a large diameter
shaft. I just need to get close on the length and have standard u
joints. Thanks.

I built my own front driveshaft. I used two pieces of square tubing; the
outer one is 2.5", 1/4" think and the inner is 2", 3/16 thick then I welded
the original u-joints to the ends. works great but is only good for up to
15 mph.
just an idea,

Joe,
I appreciate the tug. Of course you forgot to mention how I was the only one
to climb the BIG waterfall and how I had to winch you up it :)
James,
Be sure to carry some chains in your Jeep at all times. I've had to use them
twice now. Once when my rear trackbar weld broke and the second time when
the front trackbar bent.
This time I had to pull the trackbar off because the tire was rubbing on the
coil. I used two chains to center the front axle and Joe had to tug me since
my steering was pretty sloppy without the trackbar. When the rear broke I
was able to center the axle with chains and drive it out of the trail. Both
times I got Theresa's truck to tow it home.

Mike,
The problem is that on some TJ's the AC lines pass through a hole in the
radiator flange. If this is the case just use a cutoff wheel to notch it out
and slightly bend the lines off to the side.

When: 7:30AM start
Where: The Pay Station to Bartlett Lake - we will take FR42 to Indian Springs wash. We will stop to play at the hills near the end of ISW and have an early lunch. Should be done by noon.
Rating: 3.0+
Length: 3-4 hours
CB Channel: 4
Meet at the Pay Station to Bartlett Lake for a few hours of fun wheeling (I have an out of town guest). FR42 can be done by most Jeeps so this is a good run for beginners. A front tow hook is a must and some traction assistance is a good idea. Call if you have any questions 480-816-6240

Is it just me, or would you be relying on threads and what looks like
a bolt to distribute the forces from the springs into the
lower "half" of the spacer; instead of into the upper spring mount
which has a greater surface area than an inch or so of threads.
I guess I'm someone that considers simplicity to be one of the
biggest factors when it comes to building jeeps, and it looks like
something else to go wrong.
BUT I have not run them, have not seem them in action, so until I do
this is all my opinion.

I have a 2 inch body lift for a TJ, but I am wondering about the ac
lines. I know Scott K has a 2 inch body lift, but his is a 99 and
mine is an 01. Anyone else do a 2 inch body lift on a 6 cyl TJ with
air?
If I am going to have problems, I am considering cutting the puck
down 1/2 inch for a 1 1/2 inch body lift. Or cut it in half.
Any inputs?

Mike I'm not sure but I have heard that the only potential problem is the
inside fender well hitting the AC unit . I have heard of folks trimming to
allow for this. This is not first hand info just hearsay.

very helpful in finding the parts I need.
Check out there website. Keep their number in your places to check list.

Joe,
I appreciate the tug.

Hello All,
Jon Loveless is leading a FR-42 trail run on Saturday, September 29, 2001.

Dan
