purchased a used ruger mini 14 , 223, appears in decent shape, wood stock, showing use.
reasonably different from m14 of boot days,
anyway, any one have any practical experience with the ruger unit.
accuracy, temperment,
also ordered some ar15 recievers, am going to build a unit and see how difficult it is.
Built an ak47 from a flat reciever, wow what a job that is, but it works just fine, probably a 1000k rounds plus or minus thru it.
working on the jeep isn't enought i gotta build guns.
oh well.
its that construction thing, its in the blood.
any practical info would be helpful
thanks

There must be something in the air. I just purchased several AR components to start putting my own together. If you're looking for something like a M14, you may want to check out Springfield M1A. Probably the closest you will get.

Don't really have any experience with the mini-14, so I'll just say enjoy it.

I bought an Ameetech lower and a DPMS upper, A3 16" barrel. I wanted something quick and easy for the first go around. Next time I'll do it with parts kits and what not.

I have one I have had for several years, Ranch Rifle in SS. Great weapon, you will enjoy...

I have an "81" series. Its been worked on by me. Just smoothed up the trigger and action some. I probable shoot this weapon better than any rifle I have. I am not that great a rifle shot, but it shoots better than me. :) Its one of my bang around weapons. Just toss it in the jeep and go. With a folding plastic stock, it works good on a 4 wheeler too.

Yes , I am enjoying it went up north the other day and ran about 200 plus rounds thru it, nice shoot, also boned up on the handguns, forgot how much fun it can be. Love to shoot, gives me another reason to go to J & G or the gun shows so i can buy more ammo.
Finally got started on my ar15, first stripped reciever is a Ameetec arms, put a matched grade trigger in, and will check out the gun show this weekend to look at uppers.
I discovered that aproximately 50% of the recievers are made right here in Arizona and shipped to other folks. Interesting, didn't reallize the industry was so prominent here.
anyway, good information leads to good times.
thanks to all
