Date: Saturday, August 12th, 2006
Time: 11am
Place:
Jaime's Home
1803 E. Loma Vista Dr
Tempe AZ 85282

PLEASE DRIVE YOUR JEEP!!! This is an official "run".

$20 Buy-in ($10 goes toward the prizes, $10 towards a charity to be announced)

No Limit Texas Hold'em

The buy-in is a "flat buy-in". This means the prize portion of the buy-ins (excluding the charity money) goes into a "pot" that pays out to the top finishers. Everyone will be issued the same amount of starting chips to play. The object of the tournament is to win all of the chips.

We will be paying out to the last three standing...Gift certificates (local sponsor to be determined) will be awarded in the following amounts (given we have at least 20 entries):

1st: $125
2nd: $50
3rd: $25

These gift cards are being sponsored by PERFORMANCE OFFROAD, thank you NICK!!!

The rest of the proceedsd will go to a charity.

I just want everyone to know that this would not have been possible without Jamie's help. I greatly appreciated his offer to host this event. We are asking that everyone that voted please sign up in this thread.

You may be wondering why the tourney is starting so early. Well it will also be a BBQ, so make sure to bring some food to grill and beverages.

On a final note we need the following to really make this happen:

TABLES AND CHAIRS. If you have some to donate or bring with you, please do!

PM either myself or Jamie with questions.

Thank you and good luck!

What kind of poker are you playing? If it's basic 5 card, I'll throw down a few bucks to play.

Hey John,

If I remember corectly that date is the same day as the CK run. Might not get many people for this. My Jeep still has an axle seal issue so I don't plan to run CK but would love to see more then a few people show.

John_P

That is the date of the Pre-Run. The official run is the weekend of the 19th. So I think we should be ok.

If this is a problem we could re-schedule.

Also, we will be playing Texas Hold'em, most likely no limit.

Wind_Danzer

Texas Hold 'em sounds like 5 card when I was reading up on it. I should still be good.

Date seems good for me too.

Really? I didn't see it in the run section, so it must be one of those invite only runs. ;)

Hey all, if we have to we can reschedule this again, but honestly there is going to be something going on every weekend, so I say we just go with it, and hopefully get a decent turn out. So for now, unless everyone in the club is going to the cracks run, lets still plan on it.

Just to explain a little more on the payout structure:

However many people we get @ $20 a piece, we take $10 of everyones buy in and it goes into a charity pool for whatever charity we decide on, $10 goes to the prize pool that you can WIN.

Lets say we have 10 people show up, $20 a piece X 10 people = 200 dollars total buy in, 100 goes to the charity pool, 100 to the prize pool. We can pay out multiple places in the tournament, so that there is more than one winner... for example $75 for first, and $25 for second. And I'm told that NICK from PERFORMANCE OFFROAD has graciously donated $100 to the prize pool in GIFT CERTIFICATES, which will be above and beyond the $10 from everyones buy in that goes in to the prize pool. (obviously these numbers will all be hammered out next saturday when we know for sure how many players there are. )

Please consider this tournament if you are not planning on the cracks run, it is going towards a good cause and it will be a good chance for all of us to meet & greet others in the club you may not have ever met.

If anyone has any questions, post them up and John or myself will do our best to answer them for you.

Jamie

Really? I didn't see it in the run section, so it must be one of those invite only runs. ;)

Actually, the Cracks run is for some of the high country people, but I was going to post it early next week. If I post these runs too early I end up with 40 jeeps and the Cracks can only handle about 15 or so at a time. I am always open for a Cracks run when I am not on a trip. There will be a run just about every month till the snow flys. So if you want to come, convince me when a good time is.

:)

Have fun with your Poker event and hope you raise some cash. :D

we should consider taking the charity money and maybe hooking up the crown king volunteer fire fighters, considering its the week before you could work it out to be beneficial that way I think

Jamie469
08-07-2006, 10:06 AM
Thats the 1st and best suggestion so far, crown king FD has my vote.

John_P
08-07-2006, 10:36 AM
I myself was thinking more along the lines of soemthing with kids, but with the recent fires, I am sure the CKFD is an equally good cause.

Or is this the "Inaugural AZVJC Poker Tournament?"

Jamie469
08-08-2006, 08:58 PM
nope, we have no age limit at my place, bring whoever, and some meat and beers (soda for the kid) =)
Not sure what the deal is on the sign up page, John?

As long as you're in on this page that will have to do for now, we can get a estimate count this way anyway. How many do we have so far for sure........

Me,
John,
Bob
& Son
Brian
& friend
Possibly Ryan Rich
possibly Wind Danzer

I would like to get more involved if we possibly can, post up if you're interested or have any questions, There will be plenty of prize money (gift certs DONATED BY NICK AT PERFORMANCE OFFROAD) and plenty of backyard BBQ and fun.

Like stated before, I need the usage of tables and chairs if anyone has them as well, they will be returned in the same condition they started.

Ryan, the tourney will start right around 11am. However, if we finish up and you come over, we can always play some cash games.

Jamie469
08-11-2006, 10:28 AM
Yep, or if you show up shortly after 11 we can get you put in to the game somehow or another.

Hey John, still didnt get any confirmations on tables or chairs, so if you could grab any & all you might have that would be awesome. How about chips, how are we doing there?

Alsoly, did you get those gift certs from Nick?

3rdly and most sadly, I ran over my phone last night, so I will try to get another one tonight, but there are no guarantees, fortunately the place is really easy to find, and you'll find 2 jeeps (white XJ green YJ in the front) so just walk in and start yellin for somebody. If anyone needs directions I recommend mapquesting the location, but you can try and call me at 515-778-9249 and I will hopefully find a phone that will work for me this eve. We are going to try and start at 11, but if we need to wait a few extra minutes for some people that will be fine, (just try to call if you will be late)
don't forget to bring drinks and grillin items all:

Unfortunately I don't have any tables and chairs, except my dining room ones, to offer up. I do have a couple of camp chairs.

Can anyone help us out here?

How many do you think we will need Jamie?

Also, regarding chips, I was thinking on picking up 300 or so this evening. Will this be enough?

Jamie469
08-11-2006, 01:28 PM
Camp chairs are good, thats pretty much what I'll be providing as well, I may have access to about 5 chairs total, will try to round up more. Can also probably secure a card table along the lines as well, so if someone could bring a folding card table or something thats easy enough to haul along that would be great, otherwise, we'll make due with what we have. Chairs are my main concern. If you pick up 300 chips, that probably will be enough John, combined with what we already have that is.

Great so we have some chairs...I think I will ask my neighbor if he has one to spare...

I would think that at most, two tables would be ok for the numbers...maybe what 7-8 people per table...should be nice.
