I have checked quite a few gun forums, anybody purchased a WW2 era Garand, and if so value, the one i am looking at is decent shape, Springfield armory circa "44"
just wondering if anyone has some practical info

I bought one couple of years ago at the government auction. I am thinking I got it for about $1200, for sure it saw service in WWII due to its very low serial number. Wood is in good shape and its clean. Suitable for shooting if one wanted.

That sounds about right, I have come across them from 800 to 1500, serial number checks out, probably add to the collection, at a grand it seems like a good buy.

I had a 12/44 model from SA and was in VG condition
Like mine , most have been arsenal rebuilt at least once. Most I have seen have been rebarreled with a barrel dated in '67. WWII dated barrels will be marked up by the front sight.Later can be seen through the op rod slot.(IIRC)

None in circulation have all the original parts that they left the factory with.

Price varies greatly on condition.Also clarity of stock cartouches and correct revisions of parts for year of manufacture.

Thanks for info.
I picked up a collectors grade unit, built in 44 and refurbed in 67 new spring reciever parts etc.
unit is in excellent shape, only thing missing is bayonet, it will look great with my other weapons,
all info appreciated and useful.

The Garrand is a nice weapon. Watch your thumb though - they have a reputation of smashing them.
