Ouray has a number of nice hotels/motels. We just got back from a trip down
there over Labor Day. The only challenging trail in the Ouray-Silverton
Area is Poughkeepsie Gulch. I have a couple of dents in my passenger side
doors to prove it. Of course, Montrose is only about 30 miles north of
Ouray. You may have heard of "Die Trying", etc. I still like Moab better
also.

Yes racism is alive and well, going to be that way for along time.
It seems to me that some of the people to blame nation wide for

You CAN fit them as long as you dont wheel or turn to sharp, but why
not buy the wheels and tires and stack them in the garage until you
get the lift? How long you driving like that? I have a set of stock
wheels and tires you can borrow if you need them, they are pretty

How many people have volunteered to help? Maybe we can get a short
meeting together at a local place, have a beverage and see if we can
make this take form. I coach a soccer team on Tuesday and Thursday, do
special training sessions on Wednesday for kids who want to learn more
for soccer, games on Sat(usually done by 2:00p), church on Sunday
morning. However I can adjust some of my schedule, but the sooner we
start the better off we will be. We could then start having people
volunteer for specific tasks that way no one person gets overwhelmed.
What do you think?

Hello to all,
A few months ago someone was interested in a Borg
Warner overdrive that "was" on my father-in-laws Jeep.
Well the powers that be finally got us going on his
project and it has been removed.
So, here's the questions.
Is that someone out there still interested in swapping
out parts. (I can't find your email)
If not, does anyone know where I can pick up a used or
partial Dana 18 transfer case?
I am in need of everything from the output shaft to
the flange. Shaft, rear cap, flange, speedo gear, and
possibly the brake assembly. I have already done the
usally looking, 4wheelers, AMC & Jeep recyclers here
in town, no one carries stuff that old it seems.
Willys Works in Tucson is my only out at this point.
If anyone has a old Dana 18 hanging around, please let
me know.
Thank you,
Bill Aylesworth

Subject: First opinion: Luk Pro Gold Clutch.......
Hello everyone,
I installed a Luk Pro Gold clutch over the weekend
thanks to a neighbor that had a floor jack to lend and
a few days to complete it in. The most difficult part
of the installation was seperating the trans and TC
from the engine and flywheel assembly, seems there are
two nubs that stick out(one on each side) that were a
little rusty so I had to whack at it with a 5 pound
sledge to loosen it. Once that was done, the rest went
pretty smooth. My first thoughts on the clutch itself
were that it seems a lot stiffer to push down. The
grip is great though, tons better than stock. I'll
have to wait for the first run that I take it on to
get any other opinions but I just wanted to thank
everyone that suggested the Luk, it seems like it was
a good choice so far.

Depending on what we do, for example a toys for tots program, we may
be able to get dealership help also. AzVJC could probably convince both
valley jeep dealers and offroad/auto shops to have donation boxes there.
A listing of all those businesses involved could be on the website as well.
Another club I'm familiar with in SoCal has done these for a few years,
I'll see what input they have WRT actually implementing one of these.. always
helps to talk to someone who's done this before. (I never have -- have any
of you?) I've also heard that the USMC will get involved too?
Also, should we keep this AzVJC specific, or try to involve all local
offroad clubs, like the Lo Rangers and such?

The best tool is to have someone else do it.
Seriously, the "magic tool" is Patience. I have done
several and found that dropping the main caps (or
loosening them) lets the crank drop just enought to
push the new seal around the journal. Be sure to
grease it real good. Some are easier than others.
Good luck.

Can you really tell a difference on how it grips? I too have a Luk
Pro Gold and I couldn't. But, I could tell that it was stiffer to
push down, in fact after a few months, mine still is. I actually like
the face that there's more resistance on the pedal. I don't know why,
but I like that. It'll take a while to get used to. Then, try and go
back to a regular Jeep clutch, or better yet a standard tranny in a
small car!! You'll just about put that pedal through the floor if
you're not careful!

I have a set of stock
wheels and tires you can borrow if you need them, they are pretty
worn, but you can still drive on them. -Rob

Subject: HELP, Dana 18 transfer case parts
