Hello All,

steve sample lead a trail run Sunday, September 16, 2001 across Chivo Falls

was a great trip with a turn-out of 12 or so. lots of cherokees, couple tj's and couple yj's and of course dave peterson in his 1960 something cj5. also a toyota tacoma. lots of rocks-ya hoo! a few got stuck- high centered on rocks that a high lift could resolve. dave peterson led the group to chivo falls and we took the little hike to the actual falls which were dry today. weather was great with a few clouds. plenty of obstacles with the usual by-passes if you found the need although we all took the MAX! no winches were needed although the one tj with the 35's was is a mess there for a moment. several guys on a tow strap were keeping him from tipping over on a rock incline- he was sweating bullets! LETS GO WHEELIN!

31223 From: <JNB4PLS@a...>
Date: Sun Sep 16, 2001 8:14pm
Subject: Currie Install, Joe West, BIG THANKS

Joe and I started at 6:30 this morning changing out my steering set
up from OR Fabs one ton set up to Curries 1.25" Chromoly set up that
mirrors the factory Geometry.

If we were simply switching out the tie rod and drag link this would
have been done in an hour or two, however we also had to install new
knuckles. We thought that this might be a good time to replace the
ball joints. This added to the difficulty. Everything came off
without a hitch until we tried to get out one of the lower ball
joints on the passenger side. No problem, we'll just press it out.
A quick trip to my house for my Harbor Freight U joint and ball joint
press and about 3 hours later the ball joint is out. During this
time Chris Krieg dropped by and gave us valuable help in setting up
the press. An hour and a half trip into Napa's wharehouse in Phoenix
for a ball joint and we were ready to go again. (At this point Joe
and I agreed that the other ball joints were in good shape and did
not need to be replaced). Without that press from Harbor Freight my
Jeep might still be in Joes driveway <GRIN> and he would be driving
his Jeep to work tomorrow instead of his LX. Once the new ball joint
was in everything else went very smoothly.

Joe did a great job setting the toe in and adjusting the steering
wheel to center. I was able to drive my TJ home and just for fun ran
it up to 80MPH on US60. WIth my 6-7" of lift and 36x14.5 tires this
was a death wish before. This time however the Jeep handled like a
nimble cat and was extremely predictable in every way, OH WHAT A
FEELING!!!

My extreme Thanks go out to Joe West and his willingness to give up
an entire Sunday for this project, and a project it was, as we didn't
get everything buttoned up until 4:30pm. And a big THANKS to Chris
Krieg, he didn't want to get his hands dirty, but we were able to
suck him in for a little while.

Best Regards,

John Butler

Subject: [FS] OR Fab One Ton Tie Rod and Drag Link w/ Pitman arm

Price: $200.00

Contact: John Butler

OR fabs One ton set up consists of 1 ton GM tie rod ends and 1.25x.25 DOM tie rod and drag link. This set up requires that your existing factory knuckles be tapered to accept the 1 ton ends. I am including the teralflex 4" dropped pitman arm that has already been tapered to fit. For Jeeps that are lifted 4" or less this set up is as beefy as it gets. With my increasing the lift to RE's 6" long arm the drag link angle had become too great and created a dead spot that was noticeable in the steering. I paid $400.00 for this set up and $60.00 for the pitman arm. It is very beefy and will take extreme abuse.

Good morning:

An off topic but important post.

As many of you know, I am involved in SAR (search and rescue) and while I
would have really wanted to be in NYC, I had to accept that I was too far
away to respond on site. Like thousands of other SAR responders, worldwide,
my frustration was keen. It was tempered, however, by taking on some
necessary tasks that could be handled by computer. Mostly developing an
incident-specific newsfeed for the SAR and Disaster Response communities,
and
a few logistical chores.

As the initial disbelief passed a suggestion was made to offer a way to
immediately provide a memorial. Brick, mortar, stone, and metal memorials
will come. But what could be done now? In the era of the internet the
answer was obvious.

Attached you will find (or use the web links below) a graphic memorial to
those who lost their lives on 11 September 2001. Please post it on your
websites and forward it to any and all lists.

I have updated my website, the intro screens now show a short tribute to
those heros that gave their lives for our country.

The last screen shows a flag(not the same as on the sticker being sold), it
says"Stands for Everything"<then the flag>"Falls for Nothing". These
stickers are being sold for $5.00 with ALL proceeds going to the American
Red Cross. If you are interested in displaying one of these stickers on
your car, in your office, your home, or where ever please email me and I
will be happy to get you the info on how to get one. The approximate size
is about 4"x6", although custom sizes are possible. We are having one made
that will just about cover my wifes rear window of her Stratus.
