Joey,
Out of balance tires are a constant problem on a Jeep that is used offroad.
I run the Centramatic dynamic balancers. They allow me to stretch the period
of time before rebalancing is required by making up the difference.
The best solution to this is beadlocks. They will prevent the rim from
spinning inside the tires. Of course they are more expensive and need to
have stick on wheel weights installed to balance them. I'll go this route
once I switch to a 5 on 5 bolt pattern.

I took the Jeep in to Discount Tire this morning to check the balance of
all the tires. To my surprise all the wheels were signifacantly out of
balance. That would be why I got no change.
I am going to mark the wheel to rim to see if maybe the tires rotate on
the rim which could me a cause.
Thanks to all that responded.

Subject: 01 TJ front end off centered.... help!
I was wondering if anyone out there might be able to tell me what
they think might be my problem or maybe this is something I cant get
fixed! I have a new 01 TJ with only 3500 miles on it. About a month
ago I noticed that my pasenger side sway bar was rubbing on the frame
and that it tore the rubber boot off and rubbed a groove into the
frame. So I made an appointment with the dealer ship and took it in
to them and they moved the sway bar back over away from the fram and
replaced the boot. I thought that it was all good. Then after my last
trail run when I got home, I went back under there to hook back up my
sway bars when I noticed that the passenger side was real close to
the fram again (about half an inch space where the drivers side had
about 2 inches!). So I started looking around and then I noticed that
if I was to stand straight up and in front of the jeep and looked
straight down the side wall to where it meets the passenger tire, I
noticed that I could only see about a 1/4 of an inch of the tire
where when I did the same to the drivers side I could see about 2
inches!! Its like the whole axle is off centered on my jeep. Now that
I know this and stand way out front, it looks really bad cause two
inches stick out from the side on my tires and the passenger side
looks flush.
Has anyone had this problem yet? I am going to take it into the
dealership soon but I dont have the time now cause I am in the
AirForce and we are working overtime!! But as soon as we kick some
*** I will get on it.
Just hoping that you guys can give me some ideas till I get the
chance to ***** at the dealer ship. I also have some of those 2" coil
spacers on. That shouldnt do anything would they? To me that goes up
and down, not side ways.

Blaine,
You have lifted your Jeep with 2" coil spacers. Did you do any
modification to the track bar? If not this would be why your axel has
moved to one side. The two common ways to correct this is to purchase an
adjustable track bar or acquire a track bar relocation bracket. The
adjustable track bar is lengthend to compensate for the lift. The
relocation bracket is placed on the axel end where the Track Bar
currently is connected and raises your track bar up equivalent to the
lift installed.

Subject: RE: 01 TJ front end off centered.... help!
Well, the tracbar keeps the axle centered. It attaches diagonally from the frame at the drivers side and on the axle at the passenger side. So when the axle is moved away from the jeep, as in a lift kit, it scoots a little over to the drivers side. Some lifts come with a new bracket that attaches usually to the axle end that moves the axle back into center after the lift.
I dont know that a 2" spacer lift would be enough of a change to move the axle 2" over, but perhaps your bracket on the axle end has been tweaked or is loose? Sometimes the hole where the tracbar is attached gets stretched out into an oval shape, allowing the axle / tracbar to slip back and forth. Sometimes the bolt loosens and allows things to slide around a bit (This just happened to me).
Check out the trackbar in any case, give it a good yank - it shouldnt move around. Try having someone turn the tires back and forth and see if there is any movement in it. I had a similar problem and figured it was going to cost alot, but OffRoad Unlimited replaced the tracbar bracket at the axle end for a mere $50..
On a side note, after I had the bracket changed there was another problem later. I had it at Desert Rat and asked them to look at it, they welded the bracket in place for free. Eventually the dang thing came loose again (Thanks Joe W for pointing it out) I took it back to ORU and they checked it out found that the bolt came loose a little bit and fixed it up free of charge!! Even after Desert Rat had changed it & welded it.
I wanted to give a big thanks to ORU for putting up with me and doing everything for free! What a great bunch of people we have here!

James,
I picked up a ten pound tank from Vern Lewis welding supply in Phoenix with a
single stage 120psi regulator for $120.00. The only difference in this is
and the power tank is that my tank is steel, the power tank is aluminum.
When I need more CO2 the welding shop just exchanges my tank. With the power
tank you will have to find someone to fill it. The power tank also has a
handle on it that acts as a guard for the valve, my set up does not but that
is not really an issue for me with the tank in a mounting bracket.

Subject: Another Internet Farce... was: RE: Nostradamus' prediction
Yet another internet farce... through some creative editing, someone "added"
a few lines to what Nostradamus wrote.
Here is what he *actually* wrote proceded by comments from the author:
Here, Nostradamus says that a man from Greater Arabia will lead his forces
on an invasion through Europe. This invasion will start a third world war
that will be far worse than all the other wars put together (Guentte).
When will all this take place? In one quatrain Nostradamus gives us an
exact date in which the war will be well under way.
In the year 1999 and seven months
From the sky will come the great King of Terror.
He will bring back to life the King of the Mongols;
Before and after war reigns.
Nostradamus predicts the war will begin shortly before the year 1999
(Roberts 191). He also tells us how long the war will last.
The war will last seven and twenty years. (Guentte)
Nostradamus says that the war will be so terrible that the world will
come face to face with final annihilation. Here, he implies that the war
might involve some kind of horrible weapon, possibly nuclear. Nostradamus
tells what the first target will be.
The sky will burn at forty-five degrees.
Fire approaches the great new city.
In this phrase, Nostradamus refers to a great city in the new world of
America near forty-five degrees latitude. Experts agree this could only be
New York.
By fire he will destroy their city,
A cold and cruel heart,
Blood will pour,
Mercy to none. (Guentte)

Sounds to me like you need to redrill the tracbar over 3/4" of an inch towards the driver's side. Even on RE's 3.5" lift kits, they tell you to redrill the axle mount hole 3/4" over to compensate for lift height and while still using the stock tracbar. The 2" coil spacers most likely provided enough lift to offset the front axle. Jump under there with a 1/2" drill bit, drill that sucker over 3/4" of an inch and rebolt the tracbar in the new location. Problem solved and is the correct method!!!!!
As for kicking a#$, you bet!!!!!! Where do I sign up!

Thanks Joe for posting the true information. There are too many things going
around the internet that are just scaring people more. In some states, gas
prices are (or at least were) at $5.00 per gallon because people were
panicking and buying lots of gas so the gas dealers raised prices to gouge
them. We just don't need more bad news. We need to be strong and support our

I can't tell you how it got that way, but it is easy enough to correct.
The adjuster, located on your drag link (at the pitman arm end) can be
loosened up and then adjusted so that your steering wheel is properly
centered when your tires are point straight ahead. You might have to adjust
it a couple of times before you get it just right, but that is how you do
it.

So the Dark Tan was a new color for 1999, which means that spice was

The 2001 & 2002 I didn't see the spice color offered

Joey,
Out of balance tires are a constant problem on a Jeep that is used offroad.

I am going to mark the wheel to rim to see if maybe the tires rotate on

I was wondering if anyone out there might be able to tell me what
they think might be my problem or maybe this is something I cant get

ago I noticed that my pasenger side sway bar was rubbing on the frame
and that it tore the rubber boot off and rubbed a groove into the
frame. So I made an appointment with the dealer ship and took it in

replaced the boot.

Blaine,
You have lifted your Jeep with 2" coil spacers.

Subject: [az_vjc] 01 TJ front end off centered....
Thanks,
Blaine

Subject: Couple of SOA questions
I have had a SOA on my 94 YJ for quite some time (4yrs) and I have
added a full length spring to each corner from another set of stock
YJ springs. This helped a bunch but after years of flexing it is
time to replace them. Looking on RE's web site I can get either the
stock replacement leaf springs (6 leaf) for $80ea. or the 1.5" lifted
sorings (4 leaf) for the same price. Anyone have any experience with
the 1.5" lifted springs on a SOA? Will I have to lower my xsfer case
more? Or should I go with the stock replacements, I love the ride of
my soft, but worn out stock springs. A couple of my main leaves are
bent, that is why I am pushing to replace them.

Subject: Re: CO2 Air tanks?
James,
I picked up a ten pound tank from Vern Lewis welding supply in Phoenix with a
single stage 120psi regulator for $120.00.
Thought this might help

He will bring back to life the King of the Mongols;

Subject: RE: [az_vjc] 01 TJ front end off centered....
What a great bunch of people we have here!

prices are (or at least were) at $5.00 per gallon because people were
panicking and buying lots of gas so the gas dealers raised prices to gouge
them. We just don't need more bad news. We need to be strong and support our

Subject: RE: Steering wheel issue
I can't tell you how it got that way, but it is easy enough to correct.
The adjuster, located on your drag link (at the pitman arm end) can be
loosened up and then adjusted so that your steering wheel is properly
centered when your tires are point straight ahead. You might have to adjust
it a couple of times before you get it just right, but that is how you do
it.

Went away for 5 days... come back and for some bizarre reason my steering
wheel is slightly off-center when the tires are centered. I just had it
aligned not long ago and installed a new steering stabilizer. Things had
finally quieted down and now this... maybe I just didn't notice before I
left, but either way, what's my problem here and how do I go about solving
it?

Hey James,
I don't know if you know about "Lizzard's Off-Road Products", but he
makes a custom, extreme heavy duty bumper with an air tank directly
in it. I'm currently running one of these bumpers and they are great.
He also makes a HD steering support bracket. Either call him or email
me if you want more info. He is in Reno/Sparks, NV, and he will stand
by his work 110%, but he is a busy man being by the Rubicon and all!

1998 was the last year for Spice tops. In 1999 they went to Dark Tan. I had
spice on the old 95 YJ but my 99 TJ has Dark Tan.

To those of you that know Sahara options:
The 1999 or any other, Sahara's never came with spice colored tops did they?
I am thinking that there were limited color options on the Sahara's and the
spice wasn't one, is this correct?
TIA

Okay I found this:
---------------<snip>
This was for Sahara's;
"Soft and hard tops are available in a new Dark Tan."
From: http://www.autostv.com/1999/1999_Jeep_Wrangler.html
---------------<snip>
So the Dark Tan was a new color for 1999, which means that spice was
probably still offered but, I don't know for sure.
The 2001 & 2002 I didn't see the spice color offered
