Hi guys:

Please forgive the REALLY off topic post, but I have a duplex that I rent
1/2 and live in 1/2. Just curious if anyone out there has some rentals who
could offer me some advice on non-payment of rent issues. I won't take up
much of your time, but if you could call me at 602-841-3355 and spend a
couple of minutes with me, I would be greatly appreciative!

Thanks a bunch!

Ya, the optional 19 gallon tank was what?, 300 dollars more???? It takes about 40 minutes to pull that hose out and you save 300 bucks....and you get about 5 more gallons of space...

Thought I'd throw some more fuel on the fire, so to speak.
I ran my 99 TJ 15 gal. tank to fumes today, filled with 16.313
gallons.

Here's a different procedure on the TJ gas tank enlargemnet.

Has anyone tried any of these mods on a TJ?

Ya, that procedure is alot of work. You can do it through the gas cap area
in around 40 minutes or less and without emptying your tank. Here is that
technic.
http://www.outdoorwire.com/4x4/jeep/tech/fuel/

Also while your there pull one spring out of your liscense plate flap. Mine
used to push the gas pump out of the filler hole but now it's to weak to do
that with the missing spring.

It's actually the exact same tank, but the 19 gallon version has some internal mods to give it the increased capacity. I've heard of those that have taken the smaller capacity tank and altered it to hold the 19 gallons. Why Jeep bothers with 2 sizes is beyond me, though.

Tom,

What is the first gear ratio on your auto? 3.06 is a fairly steep ratio for
an auto. If we give your auto the benefit of the doubt and we use that
number your actual crawl ratio in first gear might be 56:1. Yes the auto
seems to multiply that figure but the REAL ratio is still 56:1.

Jon has a 5 speed so his ratio would actually be higher than
yours(3.86*4*4.56)= 70.4:1. But once again the torque converter seems to
raise the felt ratio compared to his.

Correct me if I'm missing something here. This is all friendly in nature :)

Anybody have any input as to how much the auto affects this? I'm curious.
Please back up your responses if you can.

Regards,

Scott

Jon,
That's an excellent decision to go to 4.56s. This is
the current setup on ZJ w/ about 100:1 CR (106" wb,
36" SSR, 4.56s, and auto transmission). I've
experienced the same thing on the whine noise at
higher revs on mine and according to Teraflex where I
purchased the Teralow4:1, it is normal. Are you going
to install the new gears & Teralow all by yourself?

Dan,

Several years ago, when I bought my first lift, a Tera 2" coil kit, I found
that the directions for it where terrible!

I called Tera about it (after the lift was installed) and told them how bad
they were. Their response was that the lift was intended to be primarily
marketed to dealerships for in-house installation. As such, the dealership
mechanics did not require much in the way of instructions.

I explained to them that since the kit was sold at retail, they owed their
customers a good set of directions to follow. In about 4 months, I received
a copy of the new instructions (much was taken from my web site install
write-up).

So, they did come through with it and even remembered to send me a copy via
snail mail.

Called up and spoke to Brandon that is in charge of the Teralow
dept. I told him the addendum that was added to the Teralow
instructions wasn't entirely accurate nor extremely beneficial. He
said he knows that alot of the 231 t-cases have had to have the shift
fork shortened, but was not aware that the instructions only called
out for the 2001 models and did not explain exactly what needs to be
done. He said he would work on rewriting the addendum to include all
models, as well as explain in more detail exactly what has to be done
in order to obtain correct shifting.

For me it was pretty obvious as to what had to be done, however I
don't think that when your working on something as important as a
transfer case, you shouldn't have to guess at what the instructions
are implying.

Chances are I won't know if any changes are made, until I go to put a
Teralow in Tara's jeep, but if he does get it done, then that would
represent great customer service; and maybe some other people won't
have to go through the same hassle and jeep down-time I did.

Subject: Slave Cylinder WOAHHSS!!!! revisited again :(

Well Gang,
Yet another Slave cylinder bites the dust.. 4th one in 3 years..
The most recent on was changed with all MOPAR parts.
clutch, pressure plate, fluid, slave cylinder.
Anyone devise a modification to eliminate the hydrolic slave cylinder and
convert to a regular old throwout bering??? I'd be really interested in this
type of setup if any of you FAB guys have devised such a creation.. The AX15
is a good tranny but the slave cylinders SUCK!!!
I have tried every brand and frankly I am sick of tearing out my tranny to
replace this repeatedly faulty part. So if you or anyone you know has
modifyed or is in the process of modifying/eliminating this part please
contact me..

Thanks a bunch
Dave
