Go east on 60 and at Florence Junction follow the road south. You can't
miss the Texaco Station on the left about 500 ft from the turn.

Subject: Warning: '97-'99 TJ 4.0 w/AC Belt - AutoZone
This is just a friendly warning to all that have a 1997-99 TJ 4.0 w/AC.
I purchased a serpentine belt from AutoZone a few months ago and was waiting
for time to change it, in others words until it broke. I have been carrying
the belt and a 15mm socket & ratchet. Well I decided it was time to change
it this AM. I pulled off the old belt and tried to install the new belt, the
new one didn't fit. It was too short. I went down to AutoZone and they made
sure that is what the computer called for and it was. After going through a
few belts off the shelf we decoded the numbers we figured out the correct
size.
The correct size for the belt (from the dealer) is 2339mm, approximately
92". The one they have listed in their computer is 91", 2310mm. The belt I
ended up buying was 92.2", 2345mm.
I hope this helps someone.

go to Checker... they seem to have the parts I need, and Autozone
always has to order them. Checker had the belt I needed (Autozone
could get in within the week) I slapped it on with no problems at
all. I stuck the old one under the seat for an emrgency spare since
it is still in one piece! Antway... moral of the story... Checker has
always been good for me!! ;) -Rob

Subject: Recent RE Pricing Issues
FYI.
We've gotten a lot of questions about why all of RE's pricing has gone up
not only on our web site but also on many other businesses that resell
Rubicon Express products. For those that care, the story is as follows:
According to RE, there was another company that was "whoring out their
products" at rediculously low prices. They felt this was hurting their
business and the business of other resellers accross the country. So they
forced all of their resellers to increase their ADVERTISED pricing to match
RE's pricing. So our web site shows the same pricing as RE, but we are
giving discounts (like 5%-10%) off of those prices to anyone that is
interested. So please do not let the new pricing scare anyone.
I just wanted to post this to the list so that I could stop explaining it in
multiple emails. Hope you all understand and I appologize if this offends
or irritates anyone (sure is saving me a lot of typing).

Subject: Teralow Install Question
Well I installed my Teralow into my 231 t-case today. Haven't put it
in the jeep yet, because I'm not sure if everything is correct.
Every piece went together fine, and I didn't have any problems
putting the case back together; my problem lies in whether or not it
is shifting properly. I can get it to shift into all 4 locations,
however it is very difficult to change gears.
Every part is in the case and I'm positive in the correct position,
no gears or any other internals are in anyway damged, and the shafts
spin smoothly with the correct reduction and/or neutral setting.
At the time of this post the t-case is put together, sitting on my
bench, with no oil in it. So I was wondering if any of the people
here that have put a teralow in their 231 (read: installed it
yourself) can give me some insight as to the similarities to the
stock t-case vs. the teralowed t-case from a shifting standpoint.
I have another stock t-case in my garage as well that I can compare
it too, and it shifts much more easily (also has no oil in it).
Bottom line is everything works perfectly, except that it's somewhat
difficult to shift. I'm leading to believe this is a combination of
no oil yet, and new parts.
Also, if anyone in the nearby area is free or bored tomorrow morning
and would like to stop by and take a look, or help out, or B.S. I
should be working on it again by 9ish in the morning. I'm at
US60/McClintock.
Thanks in advance.

Dan,
You might very well be right in that it is just tight and without oil.
When I did mine, it shifted about the same as a stocker. I don't remember
anything being too abnormal. As you said, you can shift it into each of the
positions (I did a 2LO kit in mine at the same time so I had an extra
position for the lever) so that sounds good.
You've probably already seen my Tera 4:1 write-up on my site. If not, you
might want to flip through that and see if I have anything in there that
might trigger something for you.

I did the Teralow install in my TJ and I recall that it was hard to shift
the lever on the tcase by hand. It shifted much easier when it was shifted
using the lever action of the stock shift handle.
I'm pretty sure it is due to the new parts. The other tcase may shift easier
because the parts are worn in.

Subject: [az_vjc] Teralow Install Question
Dan

I did the Teralow install in my TJ and I recall that it was hard to shift
the lever on the tcase by hand. It shifted much easier when it was shifted
using the lever action of the stock shift handle.
I'm pretty sure it is due to the new parts. The other tcase may shift easier
because the parts are worn in.
