Heard the word that there is a fire burning from a lighting strike down below of Crown King. its called the the Tiger Fire, so I am assuming its around the old Tiger Mine. Fox 10 had their chopper up there taking pics. Hopefully, the 10 o'clock news will have more info. Cross your fingers.

I can see the fire and a large glow from my deck. It looks like it is spreading fast. News says they will not hit it until tomorrow.

I saw on CH 5 news that there is another, smaller fire just north of lake pleasant, closer to the Lake Pleasant -> Crown King trail.

Everyone wanted Monsoon to get here for the rain to help with fires and moisten things up to prevent fires ........Uh How about the lightning to start more fires? It's gonna be a long summer. :(
On a side note; just last night I was behind a smoker on 67th Ave. And sure enough he through is still lit butt out the window...no damage here, but this A-hole will do the same damn thing on I-17 headin up to Flag or ??

I just heard the Tiger fire has burned 2500 acres. Man, I hope they get on this one and stop it. I think they said its heading for Horsethief Basin.

I smoke. Now that scully reemed my *** for snubbing butts out on the trail I carry an almost empty Gatoraid bottle to toss my butts into. On the freeway I hang the ciggy out the window and hold onto it untill it's burnt out.

The Bradshaws will burn quick if they dont get that under control. That area of the state is one of the drier and has ALOT of fuels. Fire will burn hot and fast through the scrub and chaparral.
I hope they get alot of teams on this one quick, otherwise we could see another Cave Creek size fire or worse especially if it heads north/west from tiger mine.

TJ, I am not picking on you, but, Please do not ever hang a cig out the window, even in town. When you smoke on the highway, keep your windows rolled up and put your ashes and butt in an ashtray or use your gatoraid bottle. If you have driven up the Beeline and seen all the burnt area, you will know why. Just a ember from a cigarette will start fires, although, I suspect broken glass also does its share. I am amazed at people I have met on the backroads of Arizona who will get out of their auto with a cig in their mouth and I used to smoke!
I learned my lesson when I was 12. My great grandfather caught my friend and I sitting in a barn on 4,000 bales of hay smoking. It was the only whipping I got from him in my life! Also got a whipping from my Mom and then my Dad a week later when he came home from work.

I was just up at Horse Thief Basin in early June and took a few photos.
Looking down on Horsethief Basin from the west (early June). I think the Tiger Fire is probably burning just over the the ridge.

I just spent the week at Whitehorse lake outside of Williams, so I have been out of touch with the news. On our way home today, my wife and I saw the fire from I-17, near Sunset point. Looks like Bumble Bee could be in trouble if they don't get a handle on it soon.

I could find alotta reasons to dis smokers......but hey this is America and it's legal. But like our sport/passion on this board we have to do it responsibly. Keep your a**es/ashes in your ashtray or your gatoraide bottle or whatever. I even seen closable containers at the parts store you can hang on your window sill of your rig.
Our forests are a dieing resource and certain folks are loving this fire hazzard cos then the forest service wil close the forest to the public. Which is exactly what the environmentalists want. I don't call them tree huggers anymore, cos heel, I'm a tree hugger...I just wanna drive my Jeep right up to that tree and give it a hug...:D

Is it lonely where you live Sy?? It is to bad that there are people out there who cannot clean up after/be responsible for themselves.

I have to jump in here with Tom and SysWillys--KEEP YOUR BUTT IN THE CAR! Thank you for bringing this up, because I am finding a lot of smokers don't realize that the seemingly smallest thing can set off a fire. And thank you for at least thinking of it at all--complete oblivion and disregard for warnings is what set Sedona on fire.
Please spread the word--Do NOT hang anything burning out of a vehicle. And remind smokers that dropping butts, lit or not, is LITTERING.

Not at all......I spent the first 33 years of my life in Washington state. Wheeled there for 12 years....Many trees. Moved here in 2000 and now I miss the trees. I get like a kid in Disneyland when My G/F and I go up to the Rim area to cruise around and just look and hike. Beautiful country up there.
And I absolutely agree with the responsibility comment.....A few A-holes who don't care or pay attention ruin it for those of us that clean up after them.

Ya TJ! What the hell's wrong with you! :D:D:D That stuff could get in my car when I drive behind you and set my French croissants on fire that I keep warmly in the center console:D
