Hi Gang,
Currently there is only one "trail" listed under the pleasure/stock trails forum located here:
http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/forumdisplay.php?f=76
If anyone has any pleasure runs that they'd like to submit... I'd like to encourage you to do so... it would be nice to have a larger list of easy runs that can be done by a stock jeep. Please submit your favorite stock run if you have one.
Kind Regards,
Joe

I've got several in my head but I don't have any pictures. Do we need pics for stock runs?

How about Appetizer at the South end of the White Tanks. It can easily be run by a stock rig.
Also the Gas Pipeline that runs from Black Canyon City and ends at Table Mesa road. That portion can easily be done by a stock Jeep, but a couple of the up and down hills are a bit better suited for someone with at least a little bit of experience. The toughest part is coming down out of the culvert, where having the short (non-lifted) vehicle really hurts, but a quick spot and maybe a rock or two added to the rock ramp can get you down without a problem.

I've got FR 269 (Bloody Basin Rd to Sheeps Bridge). I have a few others too, like the road from Strawberry to Childs PowerPlant.

We could include the road from the Beeline, (SR 87) over Four Peaks to Roosevelt lake with the optional El Oso Mine loop, just to the mine and back though. It looks like the whole El Oso Loop is not for stock vehicles?

No...I was just through that Loop and we had a couple of stockers with us...no problems.
The Lake Pleasant to Crown King is doable with a stock Jeep. I've done it three times, I'm sure a multitude of others have too. BBP '83 CJ5

Table Mesa road EAST from I-17, then down through Seven Springs is a great trail for any stock vehicle and offers alot of scenic opportunities, especially in fall and spring.

The longer trip is better IMHO. Seven Springs all the way up to Bloody Basin, then turn right if you want to go to the Verde and head down back to Bartlett or turn left and the I-17.

I've got a favorite. It starts at the very west end of Castle Hot Springs Rd. near the Route 74-60 junction. It then travels along the old Hwy 74 which is nothing more than a wagon trail. It heads NW to the Constellation Mine RD near the Wickenburg Sportsmans Club. From there you head north to the many mines or hook a right on a dirt rd/trail that takes you through old ranching country back to Lake Pleasant. You then hop back on CHS Rd. and head back to the airdown spot. This is a very scenic run and lots of fun.
I believe Box Canyon in Wickenburg is doable stock as well.
Superior Mine Loop?

I just drove a stock jeep trail last weekend that is super scenic. I've done it before in the distant past and it was good to get out there again. It takes off of 60 just about a mile or two west of Superior, goes north into the mountains behind the Superstition Mts and loops back to the starting point. Lots of great views, lots of side trails, switch backs, and some pine trees at the highest elevations. I forgot the name/number of the trail.
BTW, I saw plenty of washes with waterfalls and other big obstacles that would make extreme (5+) rock buggy trails. Maybe they already have names or maybe they're just waiting to be opened.

That sounds like the Superior Mine Loop.

Seven Springs and Bloody Basin road are car worthy roads.
If you take the Sheeps Bridge road down to the Verde, I dont believe you can access Bartlett Lake from that point, without turning around and backtracking.
For a great backcountry trip, with alittle 4wheeling in mind and alot of sight seeing - take FR24 through Seven Springs, north past Bloody Basin road, then turning into the FR16 - run that up through the Verde Rim via 68G.

Crown King can be done in a 2WD rig if you pick your lines right in 1 or 2 spots. I'm not sure if it will fall into a pleasure trail particularly because of the length/remoteness of the trail and the fact that you can get in trouble in a couple of places. When I think of pleasure trail I think more of that one trail in Sedona that you can take to Flagstaff (or just south of flagstaff). I always forget it's name.

Uh fella's I think Joe was more meaning for you all to write up a trail description with some pics and submit it to be posted. :D
Oh, and Barry now that the old site is back in working order are you all planning on taking some of the trail descriptions from over there and building them into the BBS? Just curious about that one. If you want to and need any help with it let me know.

Just like usual if we spent as much time contributing as we do arguing..... :D

Yup, pretty much exactly what I was hinting at. :D I haven't seen a new trail description posted in weeks. I'd post more, but we don't take pics very much when we go out.

One of my favorites if you ever get down towards Safford Az. The Black Hills Back Country Byway. http://www.roadnotes.com/scenicdrives/az02.htm On the Safford side of the trail there are two hidden graves. They were prisoners employed to build the road. One died of I don't know what, the other was shot in the back trying to escape the work detail. On the Clifton end of the trail there are stone terraces that my grandpa helped build to prevent erosion while he was in the civilian conservation corps. Theres a great place to take a dip in the Gila river under the old Safford bridge and all through the trail there are picnic spots and nice views, and lots of tougher trails all along the way to the right and left. I love this trail and I go there every time I visit family and I take my sidearm to do some plinking too. Go, you'll enjoy it.

No pictures required -- a description is better than nothing at all.
Thanks Joe for posting this up. I was going to do the same. There's a pile of trails out there and we should get some descriptions in.
