I am still trying to decide on a cage for my TJ.
So before I make my final decision I want to compare them all.
So, anyway I call up O-R Fab to get a price and I am told they do not sell to the public and I cannot get a price. Well thats fine. I remember when they first started fabricating stuff for buddys around the Valley. I guess they got to big for themselves.
Anyway, I just had to rant. I will not purchase a product from a local company that does not sell to the local public.

I am extremely happy with my Poison Spyder cage. Griswold (monkeybars) and Hunter both do outstanding work at reasonable prices too. Just my 1.5 cents worth (inflation you know;) )

O-R Fab is local? I thought they were in Cali? Second the PSC or Monkeybars cage.

Wasnt ORFab part of TBT?
I have the PSC cage and love it. Call Nick at Performance Offroad for a PSC cage and call Brian and see what they can work out for you. cant go wrong with either

You have to order OR Fab from the catalogs now. The Quadratec catalog shows the sport cage at 339.99 for the 04-06 unlimited & 97-06 wrangler, $349.00 for the 87 - 95 wrangler. The floor mounting kit for the 97 - 06 wrangler is $49.99.
You can order the catalog on line or 800 745 5337. They also show FabTec and a bunch of others. And then our local favorites. I bought my stuff back when you could drive to the OR Fab shop. I first got the tire carrier. I had stock wheels at the time and they made a custom adaptor to mount my stock tire on the tire carrier. Nothing like personal service. I liked the way the OR Fab stuff bolted togeather. Our local shops the others mentioned I think offer a stronger all welded sport cage and that may be what you are looking for rather than the bolt in.

They do not even show O-R Fab on their web site. I still will not purchase products from a company that will not sell to locals.

Do you own a Jeep? Ummm....did you purchase it at the Toledo manufacturing facility or did you end up getting it from a dealer? (or if you got it used, did the original owner get it through a dealer)
I know what you are saying but you are somewhat in conflict with yourself. ;)

I think I can offer you a better product than the OR Fab cage...but in thier defense, it is probably part of the deal when they signed on with the giant parts hore house that they no longer have the right to sell to anybody they want. Not that they would not like to sell you a cage but it is not worth the risk of losing all the catalog sales.

Brian,
I may be mistaken, but I believe the last of the two original OR-Fab (Mark and Wayne) owners now no longer works for the company any longer. (The other sold out several years ago.) In essence, Performance Accessories purchased the name and the plans for the products.
Very much like Lenovo now sells ThinkPads. ;)

I work For a Off road Company and we don't sell to the public. Its is not the same as a off road shop how can do a better job in serving you with other products and installation. O-R fab is part of Performance Products and they do all there selling and shipping throw them. They do sell to the public but some time you get a better price from there dealers.
I get a lot of call from people how would like to buy direct but i have to tell them we don't sell to the public and they don't have a problem with it. You can buy from Jeep or other car companies.

Say what ever you want Stu, but when a local company that got its start here in AZ by fabricating goodies for Jeeps will not sell to locals then I can and will go somewhere else that will sell to locals.
If it was not for the guys that they built stuff for in the beginning that trusted them to do so, they would never have gotten where they are today. And to compare O-R Fab to DaimlerChrysler is stretching it a bit don't you think?

In Stu's defense; the company has changed hands completely and is not owned by any locals. The company that bought out OR-Fab doesn't know us from Jack. Do you actually think a large distributor asked OR-Fab where their start came from? Performance Specialties owes nothing to you or me.
That being said; I don't buy off the internet and spend my money locally. I have seen OR-Fab cages for sale at Flyin Hi a couple of years ago. Local enough?

Well in MY defense I do not have to buy from them. I only looked into their product because I remember when they got started and thought that they where still local. If they chose to sell out to the great big corporate world then that is their choice. Just like it is my choice where I buy my products from.
Also when you live four hours away from any large city then you are force to buy online or mail order. And as far as a cage goes I am going to go with a weld in cage. I just have to find the time to get down there.
I want to thank everyone for their help.

Your right, you didn't tell me I had to buy from them, and I won't.
I just thought that they where still a local company and that I would look into their product. Now I know that they are not a local company and I will purchase the item I want from a local company and support them.

No problem; I stay local as well. Now make sure you buy from club members or sponsors only or you'll be publicly brandished on this board for lack of loyalty. Don't you feel the love? :D :p

I do what I can Nick. I did purchase PSC products from you and convinced you to carry their products. That one paid for itself! ;)
I'd coordinate your Sammi build, but you're already screwing that one up! :D :p

When you look at the cage that Brian made in the photos, it's twice the cage as my OR Fab. Mine is a bolt togeather sports cage. It might help a little in case of a role over, but it's not the same as a welded cage.
