I was looking to head out to the whitetanks on Sat night. I wanted to run tax collector, firebird, and ruler and if time scorpion. I would rate Ruler, the hardest of these trails, at 4.0. I am thinking of meeting at I-10 and Watson at 7 pm. Any takers>

Are people welcome to just run a portion of the run and then bail? I don't want to jump into a 4.0 that I haven't seen before but Tax Collector and Firebird are well within my realm.

You can get through the first two trails mentioned for sure. We'll talk about the 4.0 rated trails when we get there.

I'm at 35th Ave & Deer Valley.

Get to I10 and head west. I can't remember road to exit, Watson???

I'll be taking the 101 to the 10, we could meet up where-ever.

To get there just take I-10 like you are going to LA. Then get of at Watson Rd and park in the dirt on the right. With 33's and open you can make it through tax collector and Firebird but thats it. You would have no chance on ruler or scorpion.

If you are in the middle of the group you dont really need rock lights, they help but the headlights from the person behind you will help.

SKII4X4,
I'm on 33's with a locker in the front and a LS in the rear. What do you think about me running ruler and scorpion? I was the leader for the white tanks run that you were having engine problems on.

I ran ruler last sat night, and it's still pretty tore up... 33's and a locker can make it, you'll just get the frequent diff hangers for sure... and belly pan rubbage!! :-)

I'd like to make it again though, I've got the time written down... Thanx for organizing it, and putting it together.

Im on 33s so I think that answers your question. I have ran it without a front locker and no lift. It just takes very careful driving and some patience.

Hey guys

I'm in and I'm bringing 2 other TJs with me. I hope that is cool. We're all fairly built. 2 of us plan on running Ruler and we'll see about the third. As of right now, I'll have a seat open for anyone that wants to park and ride passenger. I've been looking forward to running the White Tanks for a long time! See everyone tonight.

Okay, so I did get a few pics. The pics don't do these trails any justice.

Kevin on Tax Collector. He did an awesome job leading!
6290

Aaron on the beginning of Ruler. You can see the remains of the car that is at the end of Firebird.
6291

Aaron on Scorpion.
6292

Allan on Scorpion.

I forgot to note that I bent my Currie tie rod. Not real happy with that.

Wow, you bent a currie tie rod...ouch. Sounds like I need to do a lot of moddin before I hit that trail then.

Aaronon38s

X2 on the tie rod, but mine was a custom one, so no manufactures to put down (looks like it happened on the 2nd pic above, and you can kinda see it on the 3rd hehe). and a small leak in the rear diff, but whatever.
Awesome trip, glad I made it and met all you guys.

Found a couple things after closer inspection. The tie rod bent at the threading for the TRE, so a lucky rock? My transfer case skid is bent up pretty good (good enough to look at replacing) and my HF winch plate is bent up. What the hell???

You guys make me realize that I'm not nearly good enough at looking over my stuff at the end of a trail. I need to be more thorough.

Check the date dude. You would have to have a time machine w/ 37"s at least.
