I got this today from the BRC. Sandee or Jim, do you have any more local info about this?

Attention Eastern Arizona and Western New Mexico recreationists!

The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest is formulating a new travel plan that will limit ALL vehicle use to designated roads, trails and areas. The Forest Service (FS) will be hosting a series of public meetings on the Travel Management Rule planning process during the months of June and July.*

As you know, the FS published a new rule requiring the agency to formally designate a system of roads, trails and areas where motorized vehicle use would be allowed. Forest Service regulation and other laws require the agency to conduct a planning process in collaboration with the public to help design the designated system.*

The public meetings will be the first step in the local planning process which will finalize with the production of a motor vehicle use map by the September of 2009.

The public meetings will be held at a variety of locations around Arizona (see schedule below).* The focus of these meetings will be to present information about the rule, answer your questions and get your comments on how to best implement the Rule.* All interested parties are encouraged to attend.* The times for each meeting will be from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

Tuesday June 27, 2006 - Blue Ridge Jr. High School Cafeteria, Lakeside, AZ*
Wednesday June 28, 2006 - Alpine Community Center, Alpine, AZ
Wednesday July 5, 2006 - Black Mesa Ranger District Office, Overgaard, AZ
Thursday July 6, 2006 - Eagar Town Hall Conference Room, Eagar, AZ
Thursday July 13, 2006 - Greer Community Center, Greer, AZ

Tuesday July 18, 2006 - Graham County General Services Building Conference Room, Safford, AZ
