I just wanted to say Good Bye! to all the great people on this board. I have made a lot of friends here and had a blast, but due to the negative remarks towards law Enforcement, I can no longer be a part of this organization.
For the people who know me and still want to wheel with me, you know how to get a hold of me.
It's been great but it's time to go.
See ya on the trails!

Mike, I hope you will keep in touch. I hate this kind of thing:mad: I know we have great respect for any type of law enforcement. You guys put it on the line for us.:)

I must have missed something but would hope you don't believe that this forum as a hole has anything but respect for law enforcement .I don't know if I have wheeled with you without knowing it but hope to meet you on the trail down the road .

Please consider the source of the derogitory comments. This is a bitter person who enjoys targeting a select few and who's comments are backed by other moderators on this board. I'm surprised you haven't received a PM yet asking you to please excuse James because he's under alot of stress.
The ironic part is that you'd be willing to put your life before his. Maybe James should look into why the current administration isn't allowing for more officers in our community to uphold the laws instead of blaming it on the powerless officers. I have many officer friends and they've been the best.

You will do as you need to do as an adult. I just hope you know that the opinions are not shared by the vast majority here. LEOs deserve respect for the thankless job they have to do. I am sorry you are choosing to leave but perhaps we'll share a trail at some point anyway.
I suspect I know which comments you are talking about and for what it is worth they are, in my opinion, whacked, certainly not balanced, and should probably best be ignored. But everyone is entitled, I suppose. Part of what LEOs do is protect that freedom. Some seem to forget that from time to time.
Best of luck and stay safe.

OK, Consider this my Official Pledge Of Support to the Virtual Jeep Club Law Enforcement Members and all Law Enforcement members in General.
If you get enough pledges of Support will you stay with us? It would be sad to loose a member of the Law Enforcement Community from the board. Not only are you a resource, but you are one of us. I don't know you nor have I ever met you, but I respect Law Enforcement Officers as much as I respect members of the Armed Forces, we all just fought on different turfs. So I say "Please do not let the negative comments from another person lead you to believe that most or even a large percentage of us agree with him/her".

Please stick around Mike. Although I was in TCB, I am ex DPS. These people need to stick to the subject of the board. JEEPS!
I dont think most civilians or elected officials have any idea what a LEO has to endure on a daily basis. Most of what LEO's do is completely out of their control.

Sorry to see you go Mike. I had a great time on your FJ run with your friends from Canada. A few loud opinions on this forum do not necessarily represent the opinions of others.
As a side note:
This would not have happened on the old site. It was just about Jeeping and trips. Discussion was optional. That was what made it so popular. Just my 2 cents, for what it's worth.

Hey desertdawg, for what it's worth, I like reading what you have to say and would rather not see you quit this forum. And that goes for everybody - I don't always agree with things I read and I was rubbed the wrong way on one occasion and was pretty cheesed off over it , but quitting just wasn't an option in my mind...for any of us. Stay with us .

06-12-2006, 06:02 PM
Bah, come on man, just because somebody says something you don't agree with? LEO's stick together and all but they're also a tough bunch who constantly have to resist the urge to plant one in the kisser of those they talk with. You blamin the whole group for the comments of one or a few? I'm all for taking a stand and all but I think you're taking it too hard. Agree to disagree, call someone an idiot if you want and let's get back to wheeling!

James, I'm not mad at you or anybody else. I don't hold grudges, I'm not that type of person.
I've enjoyed this forum and was proud to be a member and it's just upsetting that negative comments towards Police like yours are allowed on this forum. Yes, I know I don't have to read it and it's freedom of speech and all that good stuff, but as long as comments are made like the ones you posted I will not be associated with this forum.
You not only insulted me and my fellow officers but you insulted my father who is a retired LEO and my son who is currently serving as a Police Officer in the military.
I know your comments do not reflect the feelings of the majority on this forum but this is my way of supporting all law enforcement throughout the state and nation. It's sort of the same thing that the military does when they deem a business off limits due to negativeness against military or when Officers don't frequent a certain business because the owners are anti-Police.
Like you said James, "If you don't stand for something then you'll fall for anything."
Thanks for all the supporting comments and PM's from everybody. No I don't blame the whole group. My response to James' post above says it all. I may be back at a later date, it all depends. I will still be on the old site where I don't have to read all the BS.
I've had enough, It's time to talk Jeep and do some wheeling!:)

Don't even know what to say Mike  You've been on just about every run that I've gone since joining the AZVJC a year ago. I looked forward to wheeling with you and appreciated your patience with my newbie mistakes and questions. I'm more than a little disappointed to see you go. I'm even more disappointed that your leaving not because you're moving or giving up Jeeping, but because you've been driven away by comments made by a fellow member.
Semper Fi Mike, hang on to my email and I hope to be able to keep wheeling with you.

Mike,
I'm glad I did not read the post from James. Being a posse member for over 32 years and a supporter of law enforcement I would have put my two cents in. I've met a lot of good people in the AZVJC and I would not lable the whole group as anti law enforcement. I think the number of post supporting you in this matter shows that.
I belong to a lot of veteran groups. Some veterans are criminals. There are a lot of veterans in jail. But the veteran groups don't support crime, just a few of their members who don't speak for the orginazation.
Anyhow be safe and thank you for all you do.
Sincerely,
Tom fooshee
MIke, I am sorry to see you go, I don't know what was said but from the general gist of things it sounds like it was definitely out of line and not a feeling shared by the majority or myself. I look forward to wheeling with you again somewher down the trail

Hi Gang,
I figured out how to allow you to ignore both my posts (as administrator) as well as any moderators posts.
If you want to add me or any of the moderators to your ignore list... you can.
I know for a fact that sometimes I post things that are offensive to some people... seems to me that you should be able to ignore my posts if you'd like... so now you can :D
Kind Regards,

DesertDawg, Not sure if I do know you, be makes no difference, I don't want to see you go.
That said, I am sure we all ?? have had bad run ins with LEOs over the years. And bring up the right topic and I will climb on my soapbox in a heart beat.
Be a young soldier on his way home for leave before leaving for Nam. Have a LEO pull you over at about 3 am for speeding but we can take care of the fine right here. That LEO took all my money except for enough to buy gas to get the rest of the way home
Or be a guy on Harley coming home after a long weekend of riding and stop in a small town to get a burger. Not get served and have a couple of cars with no less than 4 LEOs tell you they don't want Scooter Trash in their town and they escort you to the city limits after they spend nearly 30 min looking over my bike for an infraction of the law.
Or just be a soldier going to his next assignment driving after midnight in a Corvette as you travel thru small towns.
I have owned a Corvette most of my driving life and I have also been a soldier. I have got tickets for running stop signs on streets I have never driven on, for speeding on highways that the cars are passing me on. I have paid fines a 3 am that would be out of line today and always seemed to be just about how much I had in my wallet. Of course the option was to remain in jail for the night or two untill they could get me on the day court docket.
But if you really WANT stories, ask a black guy, who rides a Harley and is a soldier.
I've got some good stories too...just ask.
