Has anyone else heard this weird comercial on the radio? I think it just might be anti gun but Im not sure:mad: (I would say hippies had something to do with it)(not that there is anything wrong with hippies, as long as they are ok with ak's:D), all I know is I get heavily annoyed every time the soft music and sympathetic voices come on. It says its payed for by the Justice department, and a gun free america group. Just a thought.. Why are my taxes paying for this add that is pissing me off? Im not a supporter of kids dying of course but how does all of this come together? Who do I yell at for spending my money on taking my rights away.
Ok, rant over,
Rob

I hear that damn ad every nite and turn off the radio every time.
The stats they quote are children up to age 19 and you know who is in that age group. So, I'm not to sympathetic about those gunfire deaths.
Lets see the stats on 10 and under. Not worth writing a song about.

What they don't tell you is that none of the children would be gone if the parents had been responsible and locked the guns in a floor safe. I hate that commercial. ALL PARENTS WHO OWN GUNS SHOULD LOCK THEM IN A SAFE!!!! Then we wont have to hear bull$hit like this on the radio.

Sorry, Cpt'n but I have to disagree with you. Hiding and locking them up doesn't work.
You must get them out there, children must be taught the proper care and use of a firearm.
Your theory is the same as the folks that think we should have a fence around our pools. There is another joke. Children can be taught to swim as young a 1 year old. Keeping them out doesn't work as we can read about those ill fated efforts in the paper ever few days.
Teach them how to float, paddle and get out of the pool on their own. Just like I have always done with my dogs, who will sometimes fall in the pool.
Lets lock up the booze cabinet that way kids will not be interested in drinking when they get old enough to buy it or have someone buy it for them.
Sheltering children does not make little Johnny and Jane better or safer kids.

Don, you hit the nail on the head. I grew up learning respect for firearms. Of course this was down South in the late 70's and early 80's when and where there weren't quite so many pinkos with a voice and mindless drones that listen to them. Guns are a good thing. I took my 5 year old out yesterday with me shooting. He shot my .38 Special 6 times and actually did pretty good with my help.

I like that plan...but the lesson is only as good as the teacher. ;)

I was tired when I typed this reply, and failed to mention the point...
The point was that my 5 year old got a good lesson in respect for firearms on Saturday. I told him that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES, was he to even touch a firearm unless I was the one that was putting it in his hand. I told him how much I love him and how dangerous guns are if they're misused or "played with". Then I showed him WHY they are so dangerous by shooting a shaken up hot coke. The explosion was effective and for him to see the can, ripped to pieces helped get the point across. I will continue to teach both of my sons the importance of gun safety and respect, as well as what it means to own a firearm and the fact that it is our right and freedom to do so.
