i have an 86 CJ-7 with the 258 in it....what other alternators will work that will give me higher amps??? Now I'm at 63 amps and will be installing some new mods soon and will need ofcorse....MORE POWER.
i didnt want to drop $350 or so for the ones i seen online/mags that turn out 115amps. I'm looking for a bump to aboout 80 or 90. Will be running a larger fan, off road lights, cb,etc.......
Thanks in advance

I have a 112amp Chevy Alternator in my CJ, but everything is so custom I couldn't tell you if it would work on yours.
I know there is also a FOMOCO that is used on ambulances (E350's) that might work for you.
You might want to check into these.

Some of the local shops have the ability to rewrap your existing alt. and boost your amps so you may call around to see if yours has that option. The guy down here in chandler has done this for me in the past for my toyota and it added about 20 amps.

How much did that run to have it rewrap'd??

To be honest I don't remember but it was about the same price as a new one but had the extra amps , I would like to say around 65 to 70 bones. They do rebuild it so it's like new so I didn't mind paying for it . I have a Green Machine on my rig now and they do put out big amps(190) but I have to have new bearings put in about every 2 years .
