Okay... my torque converter took a crap a while back. I made a trade for another transmission that had a good torque converter. Turns out that one does not seem to work though. The tranny I recieved is out of a mid 80's XJ with the 2.5L. The trans is the 3 spd auto. The tranny is the same as mine, however it is the non electronic version. Unfortunately I did not compare torque converters before I pitched my old one. Does anyone know if these are compatable and maybe I am just doing something wrong??

If not, where is a good place to get them? I got quoted $170 at Checker, but I am a cheap @ $ $ and would like to find one cheaper... If I have to go with a spendy new one, is there anything specific I should look for?? What is the deal with the lockout torque converters or whatever?

Thanks! As you can see I don't know didly about trannies... other then the fact that sometimes I worry about SHNIPE... I hope he is who we think he is and not who we think SHE is : )~
