Upper Terminator

Trail Rating: 3.5

Upper Terminator continues in the same wash that feeds the Lower Terminator canyon. The trail can be narrow at times and rocky. There are ledges, rock gardens and small falls along its length. It can be run easily in 1.5 hours with a small group of capable rigs.

The first real obstacle has a tight bypass. The obstacle is a rock outcropping that is near vertical and surprisingly challenging. It is not forgiving in that the consequences of getting it wrong are a possible rollover.

The second major obstacle is a large rock notch with an off-camber rock on the right. It requires climbimg the rock wall high to the left. The alternative is to try and negotiate the very off-camber rock to the right. Many a rig has left metal and paint on the rock to the left and has flopped on the off-camber section. There is also a bypass to the left.

The remainder of the trail consists of a notch or two, rock gardens and a few mild waterfall climbs.

A small group of us from the club ran Upper Terminator on 10-06-2007. The summer monsoons made a small impact on the trail. There are new wash outs and a ton of rocks have been rearranged.

He got really close to making it but ended up backing off in the end

This is the bypass to the main Terminator obstacle. The bottom has washed out making it more difficult.
