Judgement Day
Trail Rating: 3.5
Judgement Day starts from the wash between Lower Terminator and Upper Terminator. This trail can be run comfortably in under 2 hours with a small capable group.
There are two main obstacles and several boulder fields and ledges along the way. The first large obstacle is a water fall with three distinct routes. Up the middle is the most challenging. The bypasses or optional routes are to either side. Up the middle requires careful line choice as it is easy to get high centered otherwise and traction is easily lost in the loose dirt at the top. THe base of this fall is very loose with rocks that catch differentials and the undercarriage maknig the approach tricky at times. The right hand side is a notch with a steep face that is a tiny bit off-camber. It is actually easier than it might look but can be a bit daunting to the first timer. The left hand side is a series of small ledges that can be climbed with the right line.
The next major obstacle is a huge crack. While it might be tempting to go down the middle, don't. If you do, please take lots of pictures. :D The left hand side is the most challening. Sadly, the left hand side has become terribly stacked and the challenge is dwindling. It was once quite technical and now is fairly straight-forward except that it is off-camber and traction is not great until you are up on the obstacle. The more you spin the tires getting up it the more the vehicle tends to slip toward the very deep crack down the center. The bypass is to the right side of this obstacle.
The rock garden toward the end has large differential grabbers and is quite technical.
