Upper Ajax is located in the Florence Junction area and is of course the upstream portion to Lower Ajax. The beginning is in close proximity to the exit trail from Upper Woodpecker, so they make great trails to group together in a days run. It is a fairly short trail (only about 3/4 mile), and has few if any bypasses around the more difficult sections. You'll find large rocks, some as large as 3 to 4 feet, ledges ranging from 3 to 5 feet, and a fairly steep waterfall or two. Trail is definitely made more difficult when water is present.
All-in-all, this trail is a pretty good "technical" challenge and fun. Time on the trail can range from an hour to half the day depending on how many vehicles and the skill of both drivers and spotters.
