I have a 97 Tj and when I move the selector lever on my air conditioner from Defrost to air conditioner the air gets cold, but does not blow out of the vents it still blows out of the Defroster vents. Anyone know where I should start to look for a fix to this problem .
Thanx For the Help

could be that the knob it broken. Can you pull the knob off? I had that with my 99 and all three knobs had cracked on the inside of them.
Hey do you 2 (Brad & Jim) just share the same jeep? :D Looks like it from your sigs. :D :D :D

Well when I move the selector It seems like it is trying to switch but the air just blows out the defroster I think it is still connected.
Brad and myslef are very close but not that close we each have our own jeeps. His is nice mine has issues.

The door actuator is vaccum operated, check you air lines connected to the module and under the hood, they sometimes crack, break, or become disconeccted. If the lines are good I would say it's the actuator itself.

You should find a vacuum line that runs through fire wall. It is just behind passenger fender if you look from underneath Jeep. I found one that was leaking down there on tj.

What he said, +:
There is a vacuum canister under the battery. The vacuum line might have fallen of it. It is easier to see from underneath, as said.

You might also check the actuator rods. The plug came off the rod and fell on the floor in my brand new Rubi(less than 200 miles) back when I first got it!

I had the same issue on my previous 97. I'm surprised your's held up this long. I seem to recall there was a TSB about this and almost certain it was a simple vacuum line problem/leak.
At lease it gives you a place to start.

You are correct. I don't have the full text.
There are also 5 recalls on that year Wrangler. You might want to see if they were ever fixed.

I had a 94 ZJ that acted the same way and it was a vacume line. This must be a common problem with Jeep AC.
