Well my XJ has been having some idle & hard start issues lately so I'm going to replace the IAC valve (which I have been putting off) and I figured since i've been running on empty the past month, I would do the fuel filter too.
Any suggestions on what fuel filter to use? Do I need any special tools to replace it?
I was just gonna buy an IAC valve from Checker or Autozone, unless someone has a better idea. Once I buy it, I don't have to configure anything right? Just bolt on, plug in and go? Or am I in some kind of dream world?

You have a fuel filter???My 99 did not. Just the sock in the tank. Unless thats what you mean:p
If your talking about the sock then I would go OEM. Same for the IACV.
Dont buy Sh** from auto zone. I bought a fuel pump for my YJ from those blankety-blanks and it ended up stranding me on the CK back road in july and cost me $1000 to get fixed:mad:
On a lighter note, Whats wrong with your IACV? Usually you can remove it and clean it and the air passage with carb cleaner, run it in and reinstall.

Well I thought I had a fuel filter, but I gues I'd better double check. I asked my mechanic the same question about the IAC valve, but he said it was the electronic part that was malfunctioning. Hope he wasn't BSing.

SO where can I go about getting OEM parts? Do I have to go through the local dealership? If anyone know someone I can talk to about this I would be happy to give them a call. Thanks

Take a peek for the filter. Im not sure when they dropped it.
The IACV can go bad like anything else but I used to do alot of cleaning on them back in the early FI days of my youth (86-87)

Yep just checked the filter is on drivers side just in front of the gas tank. I would try cleaning the IAC but if I damage it I have to drive the jeep to get the new one. Also the IAC problem is very random, and I am going camping this weekend and dont wan't any problems on the trip, so even if I clean it up I wont know for sure if its working properly.
