View Full Version : The Time Has Come... Looking For Another Jeep!!!

I've finally decided that, with the gas prices climbing, the Jeep itch not being scratched, and missing the dirt and rocks in general, that it's time to start looking again.
Unfortunately, I have to go with a stealership, because I don't have the time or patience to try and sell my truck for cash, then buy from a private party...
So, I'm in the market for a 2000 or newer Wrangler with 6cyl automatic, A/C, hardtop (preferrably) in a "manly" color that I can just about trade straight across... I'm thinking that it shouldn't be hard to do, since the truck is sharp and worth a pretty penny ($19,900 retail- *I wish I could find someone to buy it for that!!!, $17,100 Private, and $14,300 Trade-In)
If anyone wants to trade me, I'd entertain the idea, if it was serious... But keep in mind, this ride will be my DD and a 3.0 rated crawler at most (for now)...
Otherwise, what Stealerships are worth looking into?
I live in Havasu, so a daytrip would have to be made and I'd have to do a lot of homework before making the trip... The places here are all ripoffs...

Dealerships don't care if you added aftermarket parts. Doesn't matter if you have $40k in a Jeep so expect low price on trade.
On the other hand, JASON DE MONTO (iselljeeps) is an excellent sales consultant. I'm not saying that just that because I worked with him, but I love jeeps and he does too. He's the person you want to go to. HE WON'T BS YOU BETWEEN VEHICLES.
EDIT: I see you'd be coming from Havasu. Jason is @ Airpark Chrysler Jeep (scottsdale). They sale the most wranglers(no bs), their inventory changes often and usually have an excellent choice of used vehicles.

One more vote for Airpark. I bought mine there and was treated fair.

Airpark is a heavy hitter in the valley. I got mine from Moore in peoria and they were decent guys but it actualy was a dealer trade from Airpark. If you are going to make the trip, start with iselljeeps at Airpark. He seems to care enough to sell the very best:D

In the "power that be's" defense; were you asked to become a business sponsor? I could understand that. It would be the same thing if 4 Wheelers Supply came in here promoting their wears without signing up for sponsorship. Pirate4x4.com and many others have the same requirements. ;)

I did find a Jeep up in Cottonwood that has everything I want, but it's yellow... How can my Jeep be BRUZR if it's yellow? I'm going to keep looking... And hopefully between me and Jason, we can find me a Black TJ with black hardtop, 6 cyl, and automatic... Heck, I might even luck up and find one that's semi-lifted but not ridden hard on the trails (THAT would be MY job!!!)
My wife's actually cool with me getting a Jeep instead of the truck, just as long as I find the right deal...

OK, it's question time... Am I putting too much thought into the whole manual vs automatic THANG? If I get a 6 cylinder, does it really matter if it's stick or auto? I used to stall my 4 banger all the time on obstacles, was that just because of the way I was driving?
On the road, I love the feel of a manual... You know, the feeling of being in control...
So, should I just not worry about manual vs auto and just find a 6 cylinder with A/C and hardtop that I like? Pros and cons of each?

i am not liberty to discuss the sponsership program on this site. When I do get a chance to discuss it I thinks most of you will understand our point of view, I really don't think our dealer is any different than any of the offroad shops on this site or the manufactures, it should all be equal but is not. Its ok we have a game plan.

OMG you just turned this thread into a manual vs automatic argument!!!!:D
Do a search, "auto vs manual" There's probably at least 5 threads just about that.
So I'll start:D
If it's a 6 both will be fine. I drove models 2000 and ^ (When I sold them)and I thought the auto really sucks a lot of power. I do like the manual cause the transfer is so much faster but (on the manual side)if you do a lot of street driving I suggest sticking with a 5sp vs the 6spd. the 6spd needs too much attention changing gears all the time. I'm sure it is a really nice tranny for offroading though. If ya want an auto, don't get the a 4cyl.

Whatever I get, it WILL NOT be a 4 banger!!!
*That was for you Shnipe... J/K*
But really, I don't want another 4 banger. I want the extra power. I guess I shouldn't limit my choices by what tranny they have.:o

And are yellow Jeeps chick Jeeps? I've had two different women at work say that a yellow Jeep is really feminine looking... I'm secure in my masculinity, so I should be cool, right?:D

HA, that was my suggestion. Spend a couple hundred on a cheap compressor and a paint gun and paint that bad boy. You can even clear coat it if you want.
I gaurantee you I've never stalled my Auto on an obstacle. :D Except that time the pan ran dry and I blew up the tranny. :D

Shallow tranny pans don't like to be sitting at severely unnatural angles. When it ran dry I heated it up pretty bad and cracked the case. Or at least that's the story we best came up with. :D However I've never had that problem sense and I was running the same obstacle with no problem at all on Sunday.

Ok, you stated it yourself, I really don't think our dealer is any different than any of the offroad shops on this site or the manufactures, it should all be equal but is not.. Sponsors pay a yearly fee, very cheap to be able to advertise our product as much as we want. Maybe you are having the issue with being a Large Business sponsor  but it is still cheap.

Yeah, and as soon as I can come up with the dough for a set of your bumpers for it, it'll look pretty sweet (If I go with this one)... Let's see... Mike's bumpers and rock halos, a lift, wheels and tires, a winch, gears and lockers (ARB up front this time), and some ROCKER GUARDS (I think these will be first...Just because I know me...)!!! I'll be set... Broke again, but set...

Scuba in Sycamore would probably be a better term. More of it was under the water than above.

Oh yeah, if I get it, sadly I'll be driving it as is for a while until my 5 year old starts kindergarten and we can start saving the daycare money... I don't want to piece everything together this time. I want to do it all the right way.
