I'm looking to do some out of state wheeling and came apon a jamboree at Big Bear. I've never been there before and I'm curious how Big Bear is for wheeling.

Has anyone wheeled at Big Bear? Is it worth it? Is anyone heading up there for the event or does anyone want to go?

Here are some details off the website:
Inland Empire 4 Wheelers 9th Annual Big Bear Forest Fest
June 16th - 18th 2006

Come enjoy the cool air and great trails with fellow four wheelers in Southern California's mountain playground, the San Bernardino National Forest. For the past 8 years the Inland Empire 4 Wheelers have hosted the Big Bear Forest Fest. One of the largest and longest running 4 wheel drive events in the Big Bear area. The club leads several runs through out the San Bernardino Mountains. Runs are open to all makes and models of 4x4's with trails ranging in difficulty from easy to challenging. Last year the club served over 600 tasty homemade BBQ dinners with desserts and hosted a raffle with over $25,000 in prizes. This year promises to be even better. The kids are also treated to their own games and give aways. The proceeds from the event are donated to various charities through out the year, with a majority of the proceeds donated to organizations dedicated to keeping our trails OPEN. Free dry camping in the Snow Valley Parking area is included with admission . Check out our web site for directions and more information. www.ie4w.com or contact Gina Burris at (909) 883-7219 or bigbearforestfest@charter.net

I went to a Big Bear Jamboree several years ago. Its very scenic (not really hard wheeling) but there are some of the runs, if you can get signed up on them, where there are some rocks, off camber, and steep climbs. Lots of people attend (kind of a social get together more than a technical wheeling thing). Again the scenery is great. Lots of pine forest. I don't regret spending the money.

The Big Bear area is part of the San Bernardino National Forest, and has many 4WD trails. I went to the Big Bear Forest Fest last year and I plan to go again this year; it was well organized and they have a good variety of scenic trails ranging from moderate (3) to difficult (4+). The event headquarters is at 7,000 feet elevation; if you camp out, be prepared for cold night temps (40s).
