I bought a kit last week and it works extremely well. Going to hide it behind my glove-box and have the cheapest lo-jack system ever! You just use the car charger to wire directly to your battery for permanent power. Even if your battery dies... the phone still have approx 1-2 days of life.

You better wire it under your seat. The glove box is the first place for a crook to look.

This sounds just great, how does it work with the phone antenna mounted under all that great sheet metal? What have you found the range to be? Is it satellite driven? Thanks.

I have driven around with is stuffed under my seat and it works just fine. It's cellular so as long as you have a decent cell signal... your good. Obviously it's not as good as something professional but for the price, it's extremely cool.

I thought the phone needed to be in use for the police to track it. Not just on. I'm not sure but it is something to look into.

Nope. As long as the phone is powered on and has a signal (cellular link) it send the GPS info
... username...
:D Since the Jeep typically stays parked in my garage, it wouldn't be much fun anyways.
FWIW: I have had a few issues with getting a good signal while stuffed under the dash so I am trying out a few alternative mounting places.

Cool idea....that way if someone does decide they would like a drive without permission. Now you can find them faster then the cops and.....shall we say "take care of some business".
