I know I wouldn't want to do this every time, but if I'm wheelin for an extended period of time, will taking off this part of the swaybar be like disconnecting it? Also are these bolts torqed or can I just tighten it real good to put it back on?5544

remove top & bottom nut
store your links where ya want
side note: the bottom bolt doesn't need to come out, it is pressed in
tigh swaybar up with rope.
Last but not least someone will probably chip in with homemade S.B. discos article....
and later on if u buy aftermaket discos, JKS is by far the easiest and you can adjust them when you get a lift...worth every penny
tighten good when you put them back on, but not excessive for the top part since the bushings need to have enough movement

So where is a good place to rope up the swaybar? Does it connect to the unibody somewhere under the front skid or is it going to be completely loose?

open the hood, see those little holes where can see through the wheelwell? ;)
just bring the S.B. up, pass a rope through the hole of it and through the hole in the wheelwell and tie! Now, it's out of the way!

My bottom bolt wasn't pressed in either. I was in the process of making home made disconnects using these instructions today (http://www.4x4xplor.com/homediscos.html), but I didn't buy enough washers. So just how tight does that bottom bolt need to be? Using the instructions it worked, but it was too loose so I need more washers I guess. Any suggestions?

Yea...more washers:D
or an aluminum spacer...but washers will work. In fact, when everything is on and tight, it is possible to tac weld the washers so they become one piece.
