Ok, as some of you know, my steering is somewhat weird, and with the help of my dad, concluded that it is in fact the steering gear box.

So, I did some research; I see lot's of people favoring the J20 steering box...I also see that yj have 3.5" core, heavier duty I assume, 4 bolt (including xj, right?) which is fine for a direct swap.

Also, the J20 box is 18:1 vs. 14:1 > yj, tj, xj (coreect me if I'm wrong) Are all YJs 14:1?

My main concern is the ratio difference, how much is road feel different going from 14:1 to 18:1?
I usually have a preference for anything that is tight:D

then..it's off to finding one!

It's that damn snorkel I tell ya! Remove that thing and you'll sail straight as an arrow. You don't see snorkels on airplanes do you? :D

You've thrown off the incredible aerodynamics of the TJ.

On the previous subject, I have also heard of folks running a Dodge Dakota steering box (1998 and 1999 I believe) and I hear that it is also a bit beefier than the stock TJ box
