Well, since my surgery 5 weeks ago, the company I currently work for has decided to make it as difficult as possible for me to come back.
Now they will not let me come back on a limited-abilities basis. They're all "if you aren't working 40/week, then you're not eligible for insurance... which means that I'll loose the PT needed to get me back up and running completely. ???
And since it's such a small company, most federal laws do not apply.
What they do't realize, though, is that there are customers that have done work with us ONLY because of me and my experience, knowledge and noteriety in the LONWORKS industry.

Well, I decided that it's time I get out of this industry that got me sidetracked for a few years. Although I am still doing what I have done for 10+ years, it has not beent he focus. Currently I am doing a project manager doing building automation and controls. My primary function is network design and implementation as well as graphical user interface design and web interface design.

My career track has been IT. Working as MIS, IT Director, IT Project Manager, Network Design, etc.

Anyone know of any openings somewhere? I am on Monster, CareerBuilder, Jobbing, etc., but most of those are agencies coming at you. I will gladly supply a resume if you'd like to pass it along.

Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for UI Designer/Interacion Design as well. Seems rather limited in the valley. Don't know why. I'd stick more with the network stuff - people don't want to pay people with 'artistic skills' as much, it seems. I'm just doing freelance/contract work right now.

I'm seriously thinking about skipping town. I live in New River, we have about 230k on our mortgage, and homes are selling for 550-750 right now. Sure would miss all the off-roading oppurtunities here in AZ, though!

I know what you mean. The artistic side of UI isn't my strongest point, though, thankfully. I am more the meat and potatoes guy that makes it work properly... rather utilitarian.

I am starting back tomorrow at 4-6 hours per day, but I am going to have to pay my own ins... which is out of the budget with the added cost of daycare right around the corner.

Thanks for the responses. Avnet is always looking for folks... has been my experience with them that it's because they are not that good to work for or expect the world in paper without providing the dollars to back it up.
