This sounds great. I would suggest a stop at one of the Dollar stores to pick up some "trash claws" to make your life easier. Jason Scow at the Forest Service office in Mesa (480) 610-3300 may be able to provide bags if someone can stop by his office in east Mesa to pick them up. I also have a box of bags that the FS gave me and you can pick them up here in Fountain Hills if that is closer, just PM me. Jason also may be able to provide a boat to pick up the bags the next day if left on the shoreline. But these are at risk from animals. As an alternative the pickup and trailer is also good. You will be surprised at how much stuff is there. Believe me, I would love to come, but I will be in northeastern Wisconsin by the 20th of May. I have family obligations there at that time. This is great, I applaud you guys. There were only four adults there on the last cleanup in mid March on that rainy Sunday and we brought out about 20 garbage bags of stuff and a trailer full which accounted for about 3/4 of a dumpster load. If you are able to bring the junk out, there is a dumpster at the sign in point that you can use. I really wish I could help in person, but simply will not be here. I feel that I started something that someone else is going to complete. Go for it.

Doesnt matter who started it or whos there. Just that its done. You were right to start it regardless of being there or not. Its up to us all to be the ones to get out there. The OHV community not the individuals. Thanks jack for gettin us wriled upand ready to go. Ill fill a bag for you or two :D

Anyone else planning on attending, I'll be bringing the whole famn damily, a boat and maybe a trailer.. I was thinking about a trail run afterwards, but there aint really trails out there....just a butt load of hill climbs....so I think we're going spend the rest of the day on the lake. Don't get me wrong, I probably will be playing around a bit.... :D

It is great that you guys are doing this. Just a suggestion, there are some "trash claws" for sale at the various Dollar stores for about a buck. They make reaching into the brush a lot more fun and keeps your hands a bit farther from the snakes. I would call ahead to the store you plan to visit since inventory is not uniform in their system. Thanks again, keep up the good work. I wish I was in AZ to help, I'd be there for sure.

Dorn, I wanted to ride it topless and unprotected.

Wait,,,I was talking about your Jeep:eek: If I can find a stock skid I can drive out there, that's no biggy...but if not I won't go farther than the gas station at 87 and Shea. If I can get a ride from there that'd be awesome. Is there enough space for me to bring a shovel and a rake???

I was gonna put up some wicked twisted and or mean joke about your jeep and its wheel that ran away, but im too nice and im jealous of your pink sombrero you wore yesterday.

I had a lot of fun cleaning... that sounds sick and retarded but i did! It was hot and i got half a tan. It was great to meet more of the club and have some laughs watching Eric and his 1 wheel drive truck trying to make hills he shouldnt have been trying to drive on. There are pics of the cleanup and playing on hills somewhere but i dotn remember who was taking them. Ill be down for the next but i think we need to start at 3am the next time. Gotta beat the heat!

Oh and of course it wouldnt be a normal day for me without carnage. I broke an upper shock mount on the rear driver and my TC linkage came all apart (thanks richard for gettin me back in 2wd so i could go h ome and sleep :D)

Jim thank you for making sure that the hours were accounted for and schooling us NEWBS in the whys and whats of OHV group cleanup hours and trail maintenance issues. Bags of trash even before we hit the coves.

Great pics, swhalin! Thanks for posting them, nice to see you again. Was that a cleanup or a full blown trail run for fun? I actually had a blast, and I cleaned up the point that extends out between cove 1 and cove 2. That is a favorite spot of mine which has had bottles and cans littering it for as long as I have been going there. I fought with a small but vicious palo verde tree to get it all but I managed. Just before re-joining the rest of the group at cove 1, I took a minute to enjoy the best part about the point - a dive off the rock outcropping on the end into the lake. The water was perfect! But, I was working afterall, so I jumped out, and back in the Jeep and resumed some gnarley hill climbing... I mean, re-joined the group and headed for cove 2. That cove was a little crowded with campers and boaters and other fun-seekers, when all 18 of us came barrelling in and invaded with plastic bags and oversized salad tongs. It didn't take us long to scour the area and we were outta there as fast as we blew in. We were thorough, efficient and had a lot of fun, too!

I finally got to meet some members who I felt I knew already from reading their posts. Dennis 'shnipe', it was good to meet you and thanks for the CO2. I'll never go back to that little 12V compressor I've spent SO much time with. I'm interested in that tank, I'll PM you on that. And your rig didn't look all that bad for what it went through. Just don't smile goin down the highway, although, bugs are a good source of protein! Glad no one was hurt! Jim,Hackle, I gotta say nice rig! Those Dana 60's make my D35 look like a twig! Thanks, 1tuffxj for putting this one together. Nice to meet everyone today, thanks for the good time! :D
