I read an article in some magazine where they tested the stock airbox with a
K&N and the insulating tape against several after market systems and the
stock box with the tape won.

I like the new "non-juvenile" version. Looks good! I'm still running the very first batch of stickers and won't be changing them. I figure they are classics by now :)

Jon, It would sure be nice to get some AZVJC license plate frames. That way I could put something on the daily driver. Just a thought....

Ok, Joe (and others) I removed the (sniff) juvenile 'we rock' and I also made the bottom text a bit larger. Better??

Having been a Engineer in aluminum casting, I can say
I may be an expert on this. Sorry if this is late or
it's already been answered but here's my $.02

If it's "mold marks," what it is are cracks in the die
that made the part, and it would show up on every part
made from that die, thus it would be a common problem.
If it is from a die crack it will be raised or a
ledge. Typically they will try to squeeze as many
parts out of a die as possible and cracks are not
really a big issue in a die unless you ate making
cosmetic parts.
If what you see is a swirl, or an actual crevace, it
is a defect and should be replaced. This is caused
when two cold (relatively because it's about 1100
degrees) fronts of aluminum come together in a die and
solidify next to each other without fully bonding...
This is bad and will eventually break, but parts like
that usually will not get very far down a production
line.

Since you are dealing with air, you also need to
consider temperature, air pressure (i.e. altitude),
and as someone else stated the elasticity of the tire.
I have to ask, why do you want to calculate this?

I think we should officially call this the "First (and maybe only ;) Annual AZVJC Significant Other Run"

There are some ladies in this group that could drive circles around many of us guys. Why limit this to the ladies? I know there are a few ladies out there with rookie spouses :)

some thought into the trail, something really basic
with a good variety of small learning obstacles, I
don't think I could bear it if she decorated the

Subject: [TR] Tin Can Alley - Saturday, June 23, 2001 - Reminder

Hello All,

Stu Olson is leading a Tin Can Alley trail run on Saturday, June 23, 2001.

When: 5:30 PM (prompt)
Where: Mile marker 11, State Rte. 74 (aka., Carefree Highway). MM #11 is about 9 miles west of the Lake Pleasent Marina turnoff. Meet on the north side of the highway and airdown there.
Rating: 3.0+
Length: 6~7 hours
CB Channel: 4

This will be a "fun" run and suitable for stockers and built up Jeeps. I don't think I've ever had anyone finish the trail AND go home disappointed. (I've had some not finish and some not go home....j/k)

There are not tons of obstacles on the trail....but the ones that are there are fun and spaced out. All obstacles have bypasses available. You will have plenty of foothill whoop-de-doos by the time the sun is set and while it is still light, we will be able to do some rock crawling over the first couple of obstacles.

I've had stock TJs/YJs with street tires make it through, albeit one or two required a tow strap in a couple of places. It will depend on the condition of the trail and your driver skill.

By the time we climb up into the hills a bit, you will be able to see the valley lights sparkling in the distance (ok...that is about as mushy as this description will get).

BRING WATER! It is hot out there!

Also, count on a late night getting home....that way when you get home an hour earlier, you will be happy about it! Also, you won't stress so much because of having to pay the baby sitter overtime wages! LOL

It is usually around 1:00 AM or so when I get back to town. Was later once or twice when Jeeper use to go and blow up u-joints just mere yards from the end of the trail!

I hope to see some of you Saturday evening, ready to have a good time.

You can see some of the previous runs at the included web site address.

You guys are taking this noise thing way to seriously. Instead of spending
money and wasting time looking for the "rattle", just get a louder radio and
some nice speakers. Turn it up the volume and and the rattle goes away. If
you get some loud bass speakers, it will even cover up those annoying vibes
from your driveshaft. Getting a new radio is how I fixed my squeaky brakes
on my Cruiser. It works great : )

Ok, Joe (and others) I removed the (sniff) juvenile 'we rock' and I also made the bottom text a bit larger. Better??

Matt,

The rear seat from my missing YJ is sitting on my back
porch. It's a grey fold and tumble. I'll be back in
Tucson mid-week and we can work something out. I
might have some other things you may want too.

The new decals look very nice. I would like one, even though my old one is
still on. We don't have as high of a criminal element out here in the
country as you do have there in the big city.

I am bummed, I liked the 'we rock'. Trying to figure out since it is what
we do how it is deemed more juvenile? When you think of it we are just
bigger than when were were children and are driving motorized Tonka's over
hills and rocks(younger and without a drivers license we used arm power to
push them over the obstacle). So have we really progressed?

Sorry to all, but Jon I have to say I liked the little 'we rock' on the
sticker. Obviously thought I am in the minority here so I guess I lose, but
just had to say my peace.

Subject: New tire decision for the CJ

Well I went over to Desert Rat last night to look at the 6ply 38s and the
10ply 36 PJ Dirt Grip. The 6ply side walls are defiantly thicker then a BFG
but not as thick as a TSL SX. They are about as tough as a radial TSL. There
is a roomer going around that PJ may be coming out with a 8ply in the 38 but
that is just a roomer. So here is my thoughts.

P.S. If you have not seen the PJ yet look at the enclosure #1 next to
38.5x14.5 TLS SX #2 next to 39.5 bogger. Petersons offroad May issue took
them through Sledge Hammer and said they stuck to the rocks like glue, best
they had ever tested and could not pock a hole in the side wall of the
6plys.

6ply 38s PJ
Pro
38" before mounted
4" bigger then my 35 x 15.5 SXs
Sticks best to rocks
Con
Weaker side walls
bigger tire will be harder on my Dana 44.
Cost is highest

10ply 38.5 TSL SX
Pro
Toughest side walls available
3" bigger then my 35 SXs
Cost is lowest
Con
Actually only about 37.25"
small then the 38" PJ
harder on my Dana 44
only 14.5 wide

10ply 36 PJ
Pro
36" before mounting
Very tough side walls,
sticks best to rocks
2" bigger then my 35 SXs
Con.
2" smaller then the 38"
only 14.5 wide

What do you think?

mint. I am thinking of putting mine in a safety deposit box for safe

Well, I did too, but the majority rules. Although there has not been a majority you and I are the only ones 'in favor' at this point. If you like the 'we rock' check out the bumper stickers I did at:
