Justin,
Take about 10 dollars worth of quarters to the car wash. Put on an old
pair of shorts. Take a stiff plastic bristoled brush and go at it. Spray
awhile, brush what doesnt come off with pure pressure. Your going to get
nasty dirty and wet.... welcome to Jeeping. When all of the mud and sand
is gone, spray simple green on the oil, brush and let it sit awhile,
that will get rid of the oil and grease.
Have fun.

Mike - Yes that was me!!! RATS! Sorry I didn't see you and missed your wave.
(Here is a belated wave back) I was on my way back home with my dif
protectors and rocker panel guards from Arizona Powder coat. BTW I know you
running a 2000 TJ but what color is it?
On a side note: I just wanted the others on the list to know that Arizona
Powder Coat treated me very good. To make a long story short I had about
$450 worth of parts stolen from their shop just after they were powder
coated. I purchased a new set which coated the day after they got them in
(their normal turn around is 2 weeks) and they cut me a check for the cost
of the parts stolen minus the cost to powder coat them. I never had to argue
with them about a thing - they just took responsibility and made things
right.

I think I saw you on the 101 going north. Around
10:00 this morning. I'm pretty sure it was you, cause
I've seen pics of your jeep on JU, and this jeep was
identical to the pics. I waved but i dont think you
saw me. There was also a red jeep going sout when I
was going north that had a az vjc sticker on the side,
that was at 11:00'ish. Anyone?

You could trie taking a hose and a sprinkler, one of
the fountain types. Put it under your jeep and let it
go for awhile. Then grab a nylon bristle brush, and a
creeper if you got one and go to town. Alternate until
the dirt is gone or your too soaked to continue.

We have enough subscribers many of whom are probably new to 4-wheeling.
I think it might be interesting if we can entertain each other with
modifications, vehicle purchases etc. that didn't turn out like we
expected. This is a great way to impart knowledge.
Me first!
4x4: 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 5.5" lift, no swaybars, and other
stuff
15x6 wheels. I bought a set of stock 15x6 TJ wheels to mount my
33x9.50r15 BFG MTs. Sounds great. On these wheels the tires looked even
taller and skinnier than they already were. On the trail, the narrow
wheels proved to be a real problem. Lowering the tire pressure below 20#
made the tires wobble laterally. It sure felt like the Jeep would tip
over on even the slightest off-camber. I quickly returned to 15x7 wheels
and felt a lot safer. I still use the 33x9.50s on 15x6 wheels as spares.
I now have 285/75r16s on the Jeep for a a couple of reasons: The tire on
the roof rack made the jeep feel really tippy, I wanted to put disc
brakes on the rear and 16" wheels provide more space. I might give in
and go to 255/85r16s in the future. Why? Pounds per square inch. Narrow
tires really work well in gripping rocks and digging down to the hard
stuff on trails. Wide tires tend to float and they do a pretty good job
in the rock crawling department. Narrow tires weigh less and put less
stress on axles and steering components than wide tires. Going to narrow
tires takes careful thought. Not all vehicles will work well with narrow
tires. Driving style and how loaded your 4x4 also needs to be
considered.

Justin,
Take about 10 dollars worth of quarters to the car wash.

I never had to argue
with them about a thing - they just took responsibility and made things
right.

Not all vehicles will work well with narrow
tires. Driving style and how loaded your 4x4 also needs to be
considered.

That being said, I have one in the D-30 driving 35" MT/Rs. ;) (but for
