My vacation.....

So I know it's no Hawaii like where Simons going this summer:cool: , but I spent a week in Lake Tahoe. My girlfriend and I drove up and flew back. We went for two reasons... Lake Tahoe duh..and my buddy just finish his log home that he has built by his self for the last 5 years. I've never been around Tahoe before so it was all new to me, what a neat area. His house(where we stayed) is 5 minutes from Tahoe, stabbed right in the middle of all the ski resorts. I don't vacation much but the neatest things were the ski lift that came into the resort lobby to pick you up and the cool retired Navy truck(see pics).

I know the area very well. I grew up in northern California, and spent damn near every weekend on the north shore. Kingsbeach, and Tahoe City. One of my best friends lives there and I have two cousins that live there. You should have seen it in the 70s compared to now. Doesnt matter if it's winter or summer. It's always beautiful, and the smell of pines is incredible. Best skiing is on the north shore. Best night life too, in my opinion. But the south shore rocks for gambling. If you like that kind of thing. Thanks for sharing the pics. I love seeing my old stomping grounds.

We used to stay on the South shore, Cali side. Just a mile or two from the lake on the mountain, trying to think of the ski resort we could walk too. Go hiking around Emerald Bay, then night time we would cross the line into the clubs!

Damn, being 17 sitting on the beach with a 12 pack of Corona and watching the women..I do miss those days!

Looks like a go to place for sure. Last I went up was 1994 after a trip through the Rubicon. I almost wrecked numerous times due to checking out all the scenery. Pics are great by the way.

Tahoe is beautiful--I spent a lot of time there when I was a kid. The family had a cabin in Homewood, and us kids would spend all summer fishing for crawdads, or all winter jumping off of the roof into the snowbanks. Good times...:)

All that white stuff is the reason the Farabee's store is only open in the summer time up there. Over in Carson City, there is a great shop--Schaffer Offroad, just in case you need work, Cole! ;) Of course, when we needed Jeep parts, 4Wheeler Supply in Phx was still #1! Maybe they could open a seasonal satellite store in Tahoe? :D
