Used, but in decent condition; in some spots the paint has been scraped off. With a coat of paint it would look brand new. Uses U-bolts to mount to the rollbar, one of them is bent (although still will hold the rack, you could get a new one easily).

There has been some discussion lately about control arm bracket failures.
I was under the TJ today and found I have a weld in a partially failed

I snapped a few pics and put them up on my web site in case anyone wants to

I am going to send this out this time. Sandee was kind enough to forward
this last time. I am hoping I can get a couple of you to come down here to
Tucson where it is cooler. (A couple of degrees anyway.)
Okay, we are doing well. I can't thank Chris Richards, Tim Naylor, Sandee
and Jack McCullen (from Mesa) who all came out to help us with the
Motorsports Park. I wish there had been more.
Also, a special thanks to the to the two guys from the Trail Riders who
also helped us. These guys came all the way from Pheonix also just to help
us four wheelers.
I am sorry about the short notice but that is all I have ever gotten with
the park. This is a wonderful project. We will probably never use it
directly but our name might look good on that sign. This park is the
perfect place for the safety clinics. We have a building and a track all
in one.
I have been trying to get the materials necessary to start this park. We
have sucseeded pretty well with very little. I got the rocks delivered
last Thursday. Although, not enough it is a good start. Also, thanks to
Bob Bozarth who came out to look but said he could help tomorrow.
We did mainly fencing today. In order for the park to open we have to have
each spectator venue fenced off. We haven't even started on the four wheel
area yet.
I will be out there again tomorrow morning around 8:00. I am only planning
on working until 12 or 1:00. We will also be out again next Saturday and
Sunday mornings. I am hoping we won't have much fencing to do, but we do
need to do some work on the play hills in the back.
We could really use a little help to get this thing off the ground. It
opens on the 27th of June. We won't be finished but I am hoping we might
be close.

Been there. Done that. Big tires, tons of suspension travel, heim
jointed upper control arms, and bad factory welds.
I found a crack in a rear lower control arm weld (RE brand, chrom-moly)
a couple days ago. I am planning on replacing the LCAs in the rear, but
it will be a bit. Until then, the crack will be welded and the old ZJ
will stay on pavement.

I should add that the LCAs have been on the jeep since September 1997.
I'll bet that that's a record for these style LCAs. Not driving fast on
dirt roads probably made them last longer.

6:30 with myself 89 YJ, Frank Clark 89 YJ,Randy Davis 90YJ, Lachlan Maclean
98 TJ, and Rick Norman 91 XJ. Great mix of vehicles we started the trail by
installing Lachlan's first body damage to his Jeep (small ding in the rocker
panel). The new rocker guards will cover that up:) We went through the trail
with no major trouble until about 1/2 way with Randy and I walking back to
watch Rick who was running tail end come through and obstacle. In the middle
of the spinning tires and high engine revs Rick broke the drivers side front
u-joint (he was moving so slow that he did not even damage the yokes). Rick
had the spare parts and with the use of Randy's new u-joint tool he quickly
made the repair despite our help. We then continued on with the run. The
rest of the run went very well we hit the end of the trail about 11:00 and
decided since we were in the area we would go look at Annalator (spelling).
We quickly decided that is was to hot to run it today:). If anyone heads out
to do it though I would be more than happy to watch! Great trip, good
people, looking forward to the next run. Jim F.

Sorry that I missed Craig and Randall in Crown King. I came from the

realize how far and the type of road that was involved. The Senator

couple of side trips to spice things up a bit then run into Crown
King and be there by 1:00pm on saturday. Oooops wrong got there

full widths under my scout. I hope they are strong enough behind my AMC 258,
T90 (3 speed) and dana 20. (immense sarcasm) The axles I am putting under it
are a GM corp 14 bolt and a dana 44. I got a mid 70's 2500 HD for free. A
complete running truck (severe cancer) and the body is about to fall around
the frame. I am planning on putting the axles under it in the next six
months and maybe put the sbc 350 and 4 speed in it too. The 4 speed is a
granny low (like 6.4:1?) and it has an np205 behind it(decent but not very
good crawl). With all this it will give a spring over. I cant really wait
but other things must first be done before I can get around to moving the
truck to my garage and have at it. I am so excited I just had to tell more

Right awwwwn! I am all for mix n' match 4x4's, correct me if I am
wrong, but isn't the 14 bolt setup spring-over? That gives you a
free lift as well! You are probably going to have to saw a good deal
of the fenders out, but a Scout on full-width axles is 110% bad-***
in my book. If the tranny has a 6.4-something to 1 first gear and a
4-speed, I believe it is the SM465. The 205 is a strong transfer
case, but you may want to look into an atlas or something because I
think the 205 only split 1.64 or so to 1. But swapping the whole
driveline will definately give you less headaches then trying to put
one together with a 'lil bit of everything. What gear ratios are the
new axles vs. your current axles? Plus you can sell your 44's to buy
a Holley pro-jection or fund other parts of the driveline swap.

I didnt really give all the details because it would be a loooong post. The
motor was rebuilt like a few (600-700) hours ago. Its a farm truck. I agree
on the crappy t-case ratio but it will still be an upgrade from what I have
or go a 203/205 doubler :). I also agree on the free spring over setup. I am
fully planning on doing the spring over. From what I have read the front end
is an almost bolt up setup. I dont know about the rear. I personally dont
care for having to cut the fenders tooooo much but you do what you gotta do.
I dont really know what the gear ratios are in the axles themselves but it
should be reasonable. I drove it the other day and threw it in first gear in
2hi and it was about as fast as my scout in 4lo so I am assuming low rear
gears. My current gears are 3.73. I am thinking of swapping in the axles
till money is better and drive it around town with the stock motor then swap
in the 350 and 4speed. I also read a build up on a 203/dana 20 doubler so I
might be able to double the 205/ and my d20... There are lots of things I
could do with this setup and have been reading my eyes out trying to figure
out what would be best for me. I still want to keep it streetable its fun
to drive:) .

Sorry that I missed Craig and Randall in Crown King. I came from the
Prescott side. Since this was my first run to Crown King I did not
realize how far and the type of road that was involved. The Senator
Hiway in Prescott is a paved road. I was not aware that after Groom
Creek it turned into the dirt road. So I figured that I would do a
couple of side trips to spice things up a bit then run into Crown
King and be there by 1:00pm on saturday. Oooops wrong got there
about 3:15 and did not see and AzVJC stickers so I figured I missed

Subject: My scout II
Well as one of the few (3 or 4) scout II owners on the list/club I thought I
would take the time to tell you all what I am planning on doing to my scout
in the near future. I know others have warned me against it but I am going
full widths under my scout.
I am so excited I just had to tell more
people :-D.

Hi all:
Just read the July Issue of Four Wheeler and has an
article on the trail.
Also, the last page of the magazine has a picture from
Dave's Backyard Bash held earlier this year at Dave
Hickman's home.
Happy Trails!
