Article in the Arizona Repugnant about Phoenix and Tuscon being one of 10 areas in the country that will merge into a mega-city within the next decade:

http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/0409merge0409.html

5 million people now, 10 million by 2040.

Take a look at the interactive map: Where is the access to Jeep trails? :( :( :(

Oh, yeah, and where do we get the water to support all this growth?

I remember hearing about that when it was supposed to happen in 1995. I am sure some day it will happen.... god I hope not.

It's gettin pretty close now. Maricopa has pretty much been swallowed into Phoenix, and Casa Grande is getting close. The only land that separates Phoenix from Maricopa is the reservation.

As the PHX metro area continues to grow, the farmers will be out of land. The subsidized farming uses over 60% of the available water. Not saying it won't be an issue, but the shift will go from Agricultural to household consumption.
