Isn't this bizarre? Did they peel them right off the paint?

I knew Jon did one hell of a good job designing this sticker but if people start getting shot I'm going to have to start carrying again;) Nobody is gonna get my sticker

Matt, don't have any experience with them but drive by all the
time and they seem to always have a Jeep inside the garage doing
something to it.
They are on the north side of Grant Road a few blocks east of
I-10. Can't think for the name of the place at the
moment...Desert something. East of Fairview also, if you drive by
you will see the place, tall building, two stalls in the garage,
a few Jeeps out back usually. Oh, and a big billboard type sign
above it.
Like I said, don't know them, but they do work on Jeeps there. I
take mine to the dealer (extended warranty) for now and after
that, suppose I will do most myself as long as I don't have to
interact with the computer(s) in it. I have a ZJ, there are a few
different computer systems in it all chatting away at each other.
:)

Hope this helps,
Ralph

Might be worth a try checking those guys out

Hello,
I recently purchased my parts to do a change in my axle gearing. I am running 3.55's in the rear Dana 35 with a NO-Slip locker. And running 3.55's in the front Dana 30 which is open. My question is ::: can I do this myself? I do most of my own mechanical work, and I did the rear locker with ease. I have never done a gear change and not sure what I am up against. I did purchase the installation kits as well through RE. Or maybe there is a write up on this somewhere that I don't know about. I would really appreciate it very much if any one could help out with comments.......

They are so if it hits big curbs it wont drag and ruin stuff. The new
corvettes have these so people going in and out of driveways with big curbs
dont kill their spoilers and front end. They are a pretty cool idea for the
vettes but come on not on a jeep product!

Hello, everyone. I am in search of a good welder, I am going to
change my rear spring perches out this week and angle my front pinion
to raise my t-case, and was wondering if anyone would like to help me
get the welding job done. I have a dinky miller 110 wire feed and it
wont penetrate the metal, and my friend who has a powerful stick
welder and usually helps me, had a heart situation, he is taking it
easy for a few weeks. I will pay or bring longnecks, whatever is
needed to get the job done. I live in Mesa, and have an open

Ditto I work in the little pan mine on the west side of I-17 sometimes. I am
friends with the owner. Man people have REALLY messed his stuff up in there.
they steal his trucks to pull themselves out and just leave the truck where
they were! It is a REALLY serious vandalism/theft problem. Are most of the
trails on his side of I-17 (the west side) or are most of the trails on the
east side of I-17??? I know the area very well and have no idea what you
guys run in there.

Here is a link to some instructions on Randy's Ring and Pinion web
site. These are some of the best instructions I think I have seen yet
that are out on the web.

http://www.ring-pinion.com/Tech%20Library/Kits.html (look for link
saying "download instruction booklet" on right side of page).

Also:
http://www.differentials.com/njinstall.htm

Somone on the list had also posted a link to some pictures of when they
did their own gear swap along with a writeup or something. I can't
remember who that was. I can't seem to find the bookmark for it
either. Maybe they can repost that link. I think is was done in the
rear of a Cherokee XJ.

You will also need to purchase the proper tools to do the job. Such as a dial indicator, mag. base, calipers, etc. If you have never done this before you should have someone help you that has.

Subject: Membership clairification

Just wanted to say that, subscribing to az_vjc.yahoogroups, in my
book, is not the same as being a member of Az_VJC. I recieved my
share of emails regarding this, of which I could have deleted, but
have explained my point. I believe that being a member of Az_VJC hold
people to a higher degree of accountability. If someone, in the
general public, has a problem with the way you acted (while in your
vehicle, with a decal on) it wouldn't be unlikely that they could go
to http://www.azvjc.org and look up your vitals. On the otherhand if
you are just a member of az_vjc.yahoogroups and someone has a problem
with you they will probably never know who you are. I geuss this is
assuming you have a decal on, it has the correct address on it, you
post your vitals on the web and they happen to get that address off
the decal.
I would hope that all the "lurkers" go join AzVJC and be held to a
higher degree of acoountability.

Again, I would like to apologize for my misinterpreting of
information.

I am trying to figure out how they got them off your vehicle. Were they
stuck on or were they magnetic? (I have made magnetic ones from the
stickers)

My guess is must be an eco-terrorist. Time to act back, take a bush from
the desert(would have said burn, but our conditions are to dangerous for
that) and move a rock out of place. That should teach them next time they
take inventory of the landscape.

For everyone that has AZVJC Sticker:

Please remove them, write your name or something that can identify them on
the back, then reapply them. This way if we ever spot ones we think are
stolen we can identigy them!!! Someone who would steal these has way too
much dumb time on their hands.

Its really over rated ! you can do it at home. Read, understand,
read, understand, plan ahead, give yourself pleanty of time for
the first Diff, if on the vehicle do the front first, if you run into
a snag, you can always but the wheels back on and drive it.
Tip understand the term "pinion bearing pre-load "
Hint, it is a rotating(Dymanic) torque, not statinary(static).
Good luck

No kidding we were up there yesterday and someone ran off with his 3/4 ton
chevy ( my future parts rig hopefully) (full float 14 bolt/ dana 44, 350/
4speed not sure model/big t-case also not sure what model) It has a gas
powered air compressor someone took off w/ it and used it then filled the
hose w/ dirt by dragging the hose and stole all the gas in both the truck
and compressor. Talk about insult to injury. Its worse than all that but I
won't go into detail crying about the 600 amp arc welder or all 3
oxtcetalyne setups and tanks (owned not leased) or any of the other stuff...
I will be willing to show you guys around a bit if I ever make it up there
to wheel. Plus I was telling him about the trails and he laughed at the
trails BLM lets the public have. He has a trail on his claim that is a very
nasty stretch thats probably a 5.0+ (since I havent seen a real 5.0) but his
is pretty nasty looking.

Subject: [AzMRInterests] Conservation Initiative Meeting, 12 June, 2001

From: Brad Jones <bradjones@u...>
<snip dist. list>

The meeting was not intended to be on the e-mail
distribution; it was supposed to be 'invitation only', as
evidenced by the pre-printed sign-in sheet with little room
for "guests" to sign up.
Carla, of the McDowell Mountain Preserve group (remember
Dynamite and Pima Road?) ran the meeting and answered most
questions, with help from Laurie (didn't get the last name)
of the Nature Conservancy. Carla answered most questions and
seemed to be the leader of the group.
The group has been meeting to put together a successor to
Prop 100, the set-aside conservation initiative that was
defeated in the last election. They have some participation
from some business leaders (Pinnacle West president's name
was dropped several times) and have even compromised on some
issues in the new intiative's concepts due to business
leader input.
The new initiative is in the drafting stage, with wording
and final maps due sometime in July, so it can be registered
and signature gathering (250,000 needed) can be started. The
expectation is to have it on the ballot in November, 2002.
The initiative is basically:
1. Amend the Arizona State constitution to allow the
establishment of 'Conservation Lands' as part of the Arizona
State Trust Lands. These lands would be withdrawn from
future development auctions.
2. Establish an option for purchase of these lands by a
political entity (city, county, improvement district, etc.)
for purposes of conservation administration by that entity.
The purchase price would be the residual land value. This
is: fair market value minus the value of the 'development
rights'.
3. As part of the intiative, 175,000 acres of 'urban' lands
and 600,000 acres of 'rural' lands would be designated as
"Conservation Trust Lands". An additional 75k acres of urban
and 250k acres of rural would be designated later using
criteria to be written by the Legislature.
4. The Arizona State Trust Lands Department would administer
the Conservation lands, same as now, excepting auctions to
developers.
5. Existing leases would be honored. The land would be
managed for maximum financial return to benefit schools,
same as now.
6. If the Conservation lands are sold to a city or other
community, it wasn't clear about the leases, etc..
Note: If this passes in 2002, it only will go into effect
after/if the U.S. Congress (requested by our
representatives?) would alter the original enabling act
establishing the Trust Lands, to allow other uses of the
land than the direct benefit of education.

Some comments;
This is all still in development. Political realities are
intruding on the rosy outlook for the group. They realize
that if they threaten big developers or mining enterprises,
they will face a firestorm of money and professional
campaigns in the initiative/ballot process.
The maps they showed contain urban areas that in most cases
have already been identified and, in some cases, voted on by
municipalities.
The purchase price for urban Conservation Lands would be
greatly reduced from the fair market value that would be
paid by developers at auction. I suspect it could be as high
as 100 to 1 in some cases; near North Scottsdale and
Carefree, for instance. Residual value on this land
(disregarding development value) is pretty low. I suspect
that it would come down to a value for grazing and or
firewood harvest. A lot of that land is pretty low value
when you look at those uses. Remember, no development is
allowed.
This means that these lands within five miles of developed
communities (groups' definition of 'urban lands') could be
designated Conservation Lands, sold for pennies on the
dollar and locked up, like the preserve over in Scottsdale.
Kind of a double-screw. It also means that the lands that
are the most valuable on the open market (State Lands' crown
jewels) would be disposed of with practically no revenue to
education; the intent of the original act.
The total land area under consideration in this intiative is
about 1 million acres, out of a total Arizona State Trust
Land inventory of 9.3 million acres. The original Prop 100
was 300,000 acres, or about 3%of the total. This one is over
10%.
I suspect they are going to run into some heavy opposition
from some growth-minded communities and a lot of
business/development interests. I'm personally against it
because I see it as a political solution to a problem that
should be solved economically (if you want to preserve it,
buy it at maket price. This is the premise of the Arizona
Preserve Intiative.)
I also see it as a *******ization of the original enabling
act and a case of putting "conservation" ahead of education
funding. It will result in direct loss of millions or even
billions to the state education funds over time. (250,000
acres sold at less than 10% market value).
Also attending the meeting from our community were Jack
McCullen, Todd Zuercher and two gentlement from Kingman. The
atmosphere was cool when I introduced myself as part of
ASA4WDC. But, my questions were answered courteously and
completely.
BCNU,
Brad

Subject: Excellent Source For Parts

I have replaced numerous parts on my Ford Ranger and have found
Rieth Auto Parts, 50 N Stapley Mesa AZ 85203, (480) 962-4211, to have excellent customer service and prices. their price on rotors was nearly half of Checker's. They also show list price (checker selling price) and their sell price considerably less. They are a carquest dealer. I didn't have to haggle or mention a lower price at another store or any of that BS, they had a lower price from the beginning. However they use local shops such as mesa driveline to get parts quicker. I was going to replace one of my front cv axles, which in a ford is called something completely different, and their price was again considerably less than all the other places I'd called. They were NOT replacing it with a new one, they remanufactured (replaced ujoints and rebalanced) the old one. I also own a '67 CJ5 which currently resides in Montana. So I don't want any flack. I hopefully will be getting it down here within a month but have not looked into prices for Jeeps parts at this store. They did not have the parts when I called in the morning but did have them by that afternoon for me. So if you call ahead of time they can get most parts locally from either other stores or the carquest warehouse.

Just an FYI, and hope everyone is as pleased with them as I was.

James, that's funny..."I'll let you know if I spot them"! Please don't
"shoot first, ask questions later"! You're bound to spot several of
"Shana's" stickers out there!!!

I will let you know if I spot them..

Okay, I just ran out to the parking lot and mine are still there! I
decided to super glue them off while I was out there so they can't be
removed! Then I took my bike chain out and chained the Jeep to the
car next to me (hope they don't have to leave anytime soon) :) I also
put the club on my steering wheel and a bypass switch for my fuel,
and an alarm with all the works. Oh yeah and I put boots on my
wheels.... is there anything else I can do to keep someone from
stealing my Jeep???

Oh yeah I guess I could stop leaving my keys in it!! LOL

Put your t-case in neutral. I do that all the time, and it must work
cause I always get back in later, start it, and friek out cause it
doesn't move.

Subject: Great Mobile Mechanic

Hi guys:

A week ago I asked for some input into a local AC shop that wouldn't rip me off. It turns out that a friend of my tenant has a mobile car repair service and works on AC too. He came out to the house, checked the system, and found out (I'm embarrassed to say because I "Chicken Little'd" about the whole thing) it was a loose wire on my low pressure switch that had cut out the compressor. He fixed the connector, asked for $20, and I wrote the check out for $25 for his honesty (any shop would have charged me a minimum of $50 if they were going to be honest about it...more if not).

Anyway, this guy's name is Wally and he can be reached at 602-573-6959 or by pager at 602-212-7680. Friendly guy, knowledgeable, mobile and honest....which is damned hard to come by these days. Give him a call if you need some mechanical services (and AC service) for a great price and fantastic service!

=Kevin=

P.S. He told me that in 15 years he hasn't advertised once...word of mouth is all he uses, so he must be good!
