Hawkes radiator in Mesa sells GDI radiators for the TJ. They have an AZVJC
discount as well.

If you go to Walmart they have one of those bouncy things (you put on a
table or floor and put the child in and they move it kind of bounces)
anyway, it has the same little steering wheel and has the Jeep logo on it.
My wife pointed it out to me over the weekend.

I also know a few that run Boggers, and quite a few that did. Alot of them
had the explanation that the Boggers "paddle"design, allowed for the tire to
slip on the rock, left to right. I have seen this happen with my own eyes.
Swampers are more prefered tires on the trail. Plus they ride much better on
the street.

Club,
OK Heres the deal. When your really really hungry, cold pizza tastes
good? Ok I dont get out much and I have the serious urge to wheel. Across
the street from me on Kyrene and Elliot is a very large field that has been
used for dumping dirt from personal pools. The area is like the size of a
very large parking lot of a very large grocery store. I have been out there a
few times and there are no signs. I do know the Tempe lets you sell your car
on the lot so they cant be to picky. And if they can dump, we can wheel.
While it may sound easy or a push over, but in reality, it can be
extremly hard. I guarantee you will flex your suspension harder here than
you ever will at Wood Pecker or Ajax. But the nice thing is, it is soft
dirt, no rocks to give you dents or break parts. Also, you can make your
line as hard as you want. Pick a direction and get silly. If you get stuck,
it it easy to Hilift or dig out. (Most of the times I go with my buggy, I
get stuck.

:::WHY:::
Cause I need to go wheeling and this is a good as it gets for me. I and I
dont like playing alone. Its weird not haveing anyone laughing at you when
you dig.

:::Time and Directions:::
Thursday Night June 13th, 7:00 PM
I plan on haveing dinner at the Sonic Drive-In across the street from the
field at about 7, then maybe head over for a couple of hours. There is also
AMPM Arco gas station lcoated right next door so you can get gas, or a place
to air up if you want. The Sonic and AMPM ar located on the North West
corner of Kyrene and Elloit.

:::The Plan:::
I know I have 3 people all ready planning on attending so hope fully this
would be a good crowd. (Hey, Thursday night TV is all reruns anways). The
plan, have some burgers and fries while sitting in my 4wd, have a couple of
hours of kick *** wheeling and fun, and still make it home in time to catch
the news and Jay Leno.

I tried to post this thru the web page but it didnt work. So please email
me back so I have an idea how many to expect. This field IS BIG, I can
easily see 20 to 30 jeeps out there playing and no one getting in someones
way.

See ya soon.

I might be able to make it, if I can find a spare tire by then.
Be prepared to get chastised by the guys in the club that think this
will make jeeps and our club look bad to all the non-jeepers that
already think we tear up the land and may see us out there! =)
Personally, I don't care, we can't do any more damage than the

While we are on the topic (for once), has anyone heard if Interco may
be making the SX in a 33-12.5 or 34-12.5 size anytime soon? I want
to run them because of the sidewall protection, but my drivetrain
cannot take the 15.5" width of the current 33 nor the 36" height of
the current 12.5 offered in the SX?

Basically to run a TSL, I'm stuck with the crappy sidewall of the
regular TSL because of size avail.

Do the Bogger and the SX share the same sidewall construction? It
looks like it does from pictures, but I'm wondering if anyone here
had any real world experience?

Thanks,

The only problems you could have is if the person who owns the land wants you off, and they are probably some big corporation out of state anyways. On the other hand the if you got injured you could sue the person who owns the land and the police may ask you to leave because of that. I don't think it will happen though and if so you just drive off, is nada.
I wheel at the Dobson and Elliot lot after rain and it's great fun!

This is not meant to be a flame.....just comments on the proposed idea.

Maybe I am just getting too old, but is 4 wheelin' in the middle of Tempe the kind of picture we want to give to everyone that lives in that area?

"And if they can dump, we can wheel." Because someone else may or may not have done something legal or illegal, that makes it OK for us to do something else? Sorry, but I think that statemetn lacks some fundamental logic.

I do know for certain that there are dust abatement (sp) laws in Maricopa County and that all cities and property owners have to abide by them. Even if you don't get cited for it, the property owner can and then you have stuck that individual with a fine (and yes, they are held responsible even though they had nothing to do with it). Is this the right thing to do?

I guess my point is pretty simple.....we, the off-road community, are under the gun from just about everyone except those who ride some kind of vehicle on a trail. Given all of the trails in Arizona, why wheel on a lot in the middle of Tempe? Will you be doing something that promotes are sport in the eyes of the public? Will your actions warm the hearts of those who are sitting on the fence, undecided....trying to figure out if they should choose "our side" or the greenies?

Like I said, this is not a flame.....just some questions that some folks might want to consider. From my view point, I can see nothing but the potential for trouble rising out of this.

thanks,

Stu

One last thought....if you do decide to go through with this, do me a favor and remove/cover the AZVJC sticker, if there is one on your Jeep. I hope the reason for this request is obvious.

and the tires were awsome. I have been very impressed with them, and they
are cheaper than BFG's. They do seam to wear a little quicker than the
BFG's. As far as GY MT's, I have heard they are great but do have a
problem slipping off rocks. I don't have the experiance with them, only
what I read from fellow members.
Oy ya, on road, the pro comps are really nice. They have that nice hum,
but they do not wonder, and thats with both sways disco'd!

Last weekend's trip made me realize how unprepared I am to receive,
or give, the "strap".

Is there any chance that how to safely use a winch, how to safely
tug, and how to safely tow an OHV could be taught/demonstrated/tried
during next Saturday's trip at the White Tanks. I would also
appreciate some discussion on what type of attachment points to use
(pros/cons).

Are there some members that would make themselves available so a
newbie like me could see it demonstrated. I've read some about the
subject(also done some really stupid things), but there is nothing
like hands-on with folks who know how to do it safely.

Well,
The sun hasn't set yet and I am getting flamed beyond well done. Fine,
there have been good points brought up by alot of people. So I hope this
helps.
By 7 o clok the traffic by this place is dead. We will be far enough away
from the road that chances are no one will see us. Yes there is a dust
issue, I was going to talk to the people about at the Sonic, just drive slow
and no horsepower display. There are no houses are resdiential areas for
atleast a mile and half. The section of land we will in is
buiness/commericial zoned so all the rules that apply resdential go out the
window. (Yes I know about those rules, because my shop is in a Businees
district). And no this isnt some small lot between two strip malls, this a 1
mile by 2 mile section of land. Ok the middle of Tempe was a bit much. It
is on the very edge.
The most the police can do is tell us to leave. If they even care. Judgeing
by the amount of dumping that has occurred here,I doubt they do. I have gone
out there myself at night many times after I get home from work, and I have
never had a probelm. I would agree that if 30 jeeps showed up it might be
probem, but some how I dont see that happening.

P.S. I dont have a sticker, nor do I have a jeep,so dont worry about it, and
it will be dark so no one will see anyone else's. If we get caught I will
tell them we are from the Seirra Club takeing dirt samples. Hope to see some
of you out there.

Well folks, my friend the "save ___ from people" member (oh, just
fill in the blanks with something thats alive, well, doesn't have to
be alive just in the dictionary)" has won me over. Now I want
everyone in Phoenix to leave and I mean now. Just pack a suitase and
go. Don't laugh Tucson, you are next...

Oh, when you do go, please leave all Jeeps and related items behind.
I promise to use them in saving ants..err.. birds.. err.. well, I
save something thats here using them.

Ok, back to reality here and see you all on the trail

This page has all the info you want plus some for the average tire buyer.
http://www.intercotire.com/sssx.htm They don't make a tire in the size you
are looking for. Their website is pretty plane jane but gets the info out
there. http://www.intercotire.com

I know this lot Hunter is talking about. It is not typical "dumping" but rather pile after pile of so called clean fill. If I remember correctly there used to be a sign that stated "clean fill wanted". Not that makes much difference. But at least the "off roaders" that show up, would not be associated with a bunch of trash & garbage.

A basics class is probably a pretty good idea, but be careful who's teaching
it...there are a lot of myths and misinformation out there.

The following link is a pretty good primer on "tugging". A lot of common
sense (often very un-common), and a few "gee, I didn't know that's". Well
worth the read...no matter what you think you already know.
