Eric,

I would have to say the best time to come out is early April or late
March. At that time the wild flowers will be in bloom, the weather is
just perfect and the streams/creeks are flowing with the run-off from
the northern winter snow-fall.

Look us up when the time get closer and we can plan some runs around
round trip to AZ. There are a number of differnt variety of trails to
do, make sure you let us know your preference.

As far as changing your vehicles I wouldn't think there would be too
much to do. Maybe lower gears and some armor plating on the
body/under carriage. Speaking of armor plating, I hope that you have
figured in the armor for rig your hauling them on, the armor tends to
get heavy.

Send us a link to some pics to view and specs on the vehicles, maybe
we can give you some pointers.

I run with a few people who use boggers. Several of them have swithed
back to the Swamper biased and SXs. Most people I have talked with
feel that the Swampers grip better in the rocks. I run the SX and
from what I have seen of boggers, I will stick with the Swampers.

I also know a few that run Boggers, and quite a few that did. Alot of them
had the explanation that the Boggers "paddle"design, allowed for the tire to
slip on the rock, left to right. I have seen this happen with my own eyes.
Swampers are more prefered tires on the trail. Plus they ride much better on
the street.

I don't think I would seriously invite anyone to Arizona during the summer
to go 4 wheelin'.

Given a choice of wheelin' in 70 degree weather or 110+ degree temps.....why
would you tell someone to come in the worst part of the year?

Maybe I am missing an important point here, but I would suggest any time
from about October through April....unless you just want to be hot. In that
case, forget the Jeep, go to the local health club, and sit in a sauna.

Any time on the trail is good time, but summer is pretty much delegated to
night runs to avoid the heat....so fall-spring is preferred (esp Oct-Nov and
March-April. Winter works too, but it can get a little cold in the desert.

I think Jesus is one of those guys that doesn't want to pay for the club
sauna! Why pay when you can go out in the middle of the desert, sit in
your Jeep, doing *maybe* .5 MPH, and geta FREE sauna in the 110+ temp! ;)
If you do come in the summer, you won't find much of us out on the trails
during the days. We usually start at 7:00 PM and finish about 1 or 2 AM
(even if you bend your drag link!). If you read in to that last line, it
means GET ROCK LIGHTS! and spare parts:)

Be nice. :-) it's a "dry" heat.

As James said early Spring is probably a better time. IMHO. Summer has the
hot days but nice nights. But if you want to see the landscape and beauty of
the Arizona desert the lack of light will not help. Fall is good but the
monsoons can make the washes a hazard. Winter can be a second choice but the
rocks do get cold and if your rig is open it can be pretty uncomfortable.
Personally the heat does not bother me. That is as long as I have shade to
escape to and gallons of cool water to drink.
IMHO

We all think way different and I think that's what make this kind of lists
great.

I believe that if you go to the north pole, you bet it will be cold, and if
you want to go to the desert prepare yourself to be hot!

Long days and lovely nights are possible in the desert during the summer.
Its hot yes but that wont keep you from having a great time.

I don't like to get sunburn or dehydrated! I carry sunblock and a lot, a
looot of water =)

During summer most of us gets off work/college around 5-6pm and its a great
time to start wheeling since you will have 4-5 or maybe more sun hours.

And summer give a lot of us time to rest from college, =)

Those are some of my reasons, but you all have the right to think different

I OWN a set of Boggers now. I find that they tend to slip side to side
more than most. Most that I have wheeled with have also noted this
problem. It hasn't gotten me into problems (yet), but the potential is
there. Now........I would say that Boggers are probably a much better
all-around tire, though. Wanna run mud? Boggers are unmatched. Wanna
run sand? Boggers paddle like nobody's business. Wanna run rocks?
Work good, but can be outmatched. So.....all around, they are (my
opinion) the best tire.

Now, TSL/SX's. I've seen a number of them on the trails and am blown
away by how well they seem to stick. Saw some guys run Annihilaor a few
weeks ago. Almost all of them were running TSL/SXs (bead locked) and
their traction was AWESOME!

I myself am looking to go to TSL/SXs on my next go round because I
rarely (if ever) run mine in mud or sand. I pretty much hit rocks when
I go out. So Boggers are a detrement to me. If I wanted to blast up
sand or through mud and run the rocks, Boggers would be my first
choice. But it seems that TSL/SXs are unmatched in the rocks.

Just my 0.02c

I agree with most of what Jay says, but boggers are terrible tires in
the sand.My experience is that they just sink down and dont want to
go.

You are the first person I have ever heard say they ride better on the street. I personally have no experience w/ interco's tire line but have heard they wear like pencil erasers. If I am way off base please correct me :)

I also know a few that run Boggers, and quite a few that did. Alot of them
had the explanation that the Boggers "paddle"design, allowed for the tire to
slip on the rock, left to right. I have seen this happen with my own eyes.
Swampers are more prefered tires on the trail. Plus they ride much better on
the street.

Well, what I ment was that Swampers ride better and wear better then the
Boggers.
Or so I have been told by some of my freinds thathave run both. Does a
average swamper wear ride like a average mud terrain? No. I was strcilty
compareing the two interco models

Sorry. I misunderstood. I agree with the fact that boggers wear like garbage compared to just about anything short of race only type compounds..

Subject: Radiators for a TJ

Well it looks like I figured out why my TJ has been
overheating. At first thought it was the thermostat
since I never had a problem with it until this year.
It always ran about 210 degrees day or night any speed
or stuck in traffic. Lately its been overheating on
and off, mostly on the highway. Well anyhow, to make
an already long story somewhat shorter, the bottom
part of the HIGH QUALITY OEM radiator has produced a
big crack in it and started shooting out green blood
all over a parking spot today.

I have my ripoff extended warranty that i could take
it to the dealer and get another plastic one for
probably $700 after the 3rd party warranty company
refuses my claim. But I think it would be a better
idea to see if i can pickup a 3 core replacement for a
decent price. Has anyone else found a decent radiator
short of a custom made Griffen for their TJ? I was
looking around for a GDI but only saw them available
for an XJ.

TIA,

rick van hazel

Try www.radiators.com. Free delivery and really good prices. The OEM
radiator is a piece of junk. Don't get another one. You can get a 2 core or
3 core all metal from the above site.

I have run 35x15.5's TSL/SX's before the set of 35x14.5 BOGGERS that I have
currently.
The TSL/SX's worked great in the rocks, the wear was reasonable, I had
balancing
night mares with them, and ran reasonably quiet, They didnt perform as well
as I would have
liked in the sand. The boggers are not as good on rocks due to side slipping,
are way louder on
the road, are awesome in the sand. They are basically paddle tires in the
sand and if you have
enough horsepower....they will throw a roost behind you that is quite
impressive.
