Just wondering if anyone has a Rhino or has any experience with them. I'm thinking of selling my motorcycle and getting a Rhino. They seem like a fun way to get around off highway and have lots of after market support. Anybody have any thoughts, pro or con?

You bet.
One of the guys who frequents this board (Doslocos) has a son who builds custom Rhinos for people.
Here's their website:

Send a PM to him or contact them off their web page they are very knowledgable when it comes to Rhinos and stuff.

They are a total blast! Lots of fun and you get a cage! :D They are great for the dunes, the dez and they have been known to tip a jeep over once in a while!

Heres mine. It was done by Jagged Extreme.

I too have a Rhino. One of the greatest thing offroad is a) you don't have to worry about getting stuck, and b) you can travel your favorite runs at a much higher speed if you're into that. I geocached in mine last year and knocked out most of the FJ runs (including going through box canyone 3 times) in a single day. I ended up going 125 miles that day. It's a different way to experience the trails. For frame of reference, Crown King can be done in 2.5 hours from just past where the paved road ends and that includes stopping for a quick break half way in.

Right on, thanks for the replies. Craig, that thing is SWEET! Jagged Extreme has done some amazing things to Rhinos, their website is incredible.

That's what I wanted to hear. Now I just need to decide if I really want to sell my bike.

Seems like a good way to blow a wad of cash. Looks like you could get into about $20k with one of those pretty easily.

If I sold my dirt bikes I might have enough for a down payment on one. Then, you KNOW it'll NEED some upgrades. But hey, if you got the money..........

PS - Those jagged extreme rides are sweeeettt !

Are you looking at Yamaha Rhinos or that other Rhino. The Yamaha Rhino has a MSRP of about $9k (although the local dealer rips you off for much more). That other Rhino is around $20-$25k and has Ford 9" axles I believe.

Some do dump a ton of cash into their Yamaha Rhino's... I've seen them in the trader for upwards of $15-17k depending on what they've had done.

My buddy has one that he's sank about $20k into (including the purchase). It has 12" of travel, a big bore kit, and exhaust. Right now it'll do about 50mph and he's thinking about making it alcohol(sp?, i usually just say beer:o ). We had it down at gordon's well pres. day and it was a blast, it even shot some of the big bowls and was able to ride all the way around the crest!

20 grand, holy cow. I think I'll be happy with something the wife and I can cruise around in and enjoy the outdoors from a new perspective. Of course theres nothing wrong if said vehicle goes fast and is fun to drive. :D

That thing is a blast. If you want to go cheaper, a bunch of my buddies have golf carts with 24hp Honda's in them with Bourget(the sand rail brother) suspension! My roomates does 45 mph on the street(with 28" tall tires), they have also ran up crown king. They cost any where between $6 and $10k to build and have a huge HOLY CRAP factor.

My buddy that has the Rhino doesn't care about $$, his mom is one of the biggest stock holder in Anheiser Busch, so he gets to try all of the cool toys out!
