I just got off the phone with the parts department manager Joel. I will be
getting the same price as Leon Rosser had for the OEM part now. He was very
nice and apologized for the misunderstanding. He agreed that 25% above
another Jeep dealer price was not fair. Oh and from now on just mention you
are in any Jeep club and you will get a 10% discount.

Hmmm.....about 15 minutes travel on I-10 west (from down town Phoenix). You
will see the White Tank Mountains off to the right of the interstate. Jack
Rabbit Trail is the last major exit before you are at the western edge of
valley, so to speak. When you get to the exit, turn left (south) and got
about 1/2 mile.....can't miss the Circle-K.

Thanks, Joey! Gila Monster it is! Now, as for how to find
the "staging area" for that one... Can anyone give me an idea about
how far it is to the exit off of I-10 West where everyone is
meeting? I guess it's the Circle K on Jackrabbit Trail... never
been "that far west"! (So sheltered.) If I can find the right
Circle K, count me in for Gila Monster...

Ok,
I'm getting there. I'm in the middle of revamping some of the existing
webpages. Adding a little functionality here, changing it a bit there. I
have one more bit to do with the existing pages (Gallery/Whoops) and then
I'll start on the new pages. Stuff I've updated:
Start / Log In / Join - now provide a screen explaining about the mailing
list (how many e-mails per day and delivery options)
Members - Changed the "Begins With" search from "A - D", "E - J", etc.. to
"A", "B", "C", etc.. Also added some functionality for Admin
Jeeps - Changed some behind the scenes code.
Trips - Added "Reminder" link to send a reminder E-Mail to the group.
Trails - Added a "Submit Trail" feature and made it easier to Admin trails
Events - The current events are broken, new events generated should work.
Gallery - (In progress) Adding a limit to 25 images per page, with a "Next
Page" / "Previous Page" navigation system.
Mostly I changed alot so that it would be easier to admin. For instance
instead of having all asppages in the "asppages" folder, each section has
its own folder ("members, jeeps, events, trips, trails, etc...) And the
files were renamed so they'd be easier to keep track of (i.e., since jeeps
has its own directory, EditJeep.asp is kind of redundant so it was just
renamed Edit.asp) I know this is more info than most of you want, I just
thought I'd share. :)
Have a good weekend,

Any locker (assuming it works) is good for a jeep. Nothing bad that
I can think of, you don't notice it in 2WD, only 4WD. Good thing:
inexpensive, easy install. Bad thing: not a selectable locker, but
then for $250 you can't be picky.
I say go for it.

I've had my TJ for over a year and always assumed that I had open diffs. That is until I crawled under the rear after installing my 33's and found a tag on the axle. After scrapping it off to where I could read it, it says, "USE LIMITED SLIP GEAR OIL ONLY".after Finding , I assume I have a TRAC-LOK in the rear 35c. I got the jeep into my favorite ditch and got the left front and right rear off the ground and spinning and then pulled my emergency brake up about 4 clicks and WA-LA, the TJ jumped out of the ditch!
So--- I want to check it out and was wondering what the favorite gear oil for these LSD's are???

The good: I have a Powertrax NoSlip locker in the front of my TJ. It is completely transparent in 2WD. Offroad there is a day and night difference in performance. Despite the few disadvantages to it it is still worth it.
The bad: I can't say that there is anything serious. Turning radius while in 4WD is somewhat wider since front wheels don't differentiate. (I installed a 2LO shift kit with my Teralow so its not an issue for me). I'm running 35's, 4.56 gears, and a Teralow. Knock on wood I've not had any parts break in a year and a half. I carry spare axle assemblies and ujoints just in case. Just keep in mind that once your locked you tend to get into much tougher terrain and things are more likely to break.

Subject: How to test an air idle controller
I know this is kind of a late in the day question. The old ZJ had a
multitude of little problems this week: fuel pressure regular failure,
FPR vacuum line disintegrating, ignition coil failure, security system
problems. Now it looks like the latest aftermarket air idle controller
took a dump. The only test I know (without a scan tool) is to test the
controller connected and disconnected to see if there is a difference in
engine idle/reactions. So far the engine idle appears to be the same
whether the air idle controller is connected or disconnected. Is this
enough information to determine that it needs to be replaced? Or are
there other tests that can done? I'm heading to Moab in the morning and
plan on picking up a spare just in case, but I hate throwing money away.
TIA

Hi Scott,
like your pics, however you might want to post some
that are taken in the daylight. your outline looks
great. but the overall is yet to be seen. Of course it
really doesn't matter, your rig will most likely be
seen on the trails sooner than mine will ( bad
vertical descent accident ) Hope to see you on the

I got both the Kilby Skid and the 3" TeraFlex lift installed yesterday. Thanks to all who emailed me tips, tricks and advice. Both jobs went very well. I was very surprised to see the difference between the 2" spacer and the 3" springs was actually 2 inches and still no vibes even w/o the Tcase lower.
Thanks again.

I have a PowerTrax NoSlip in a D30 front on my 98TJ. When in 2WD I don't know it is there. I also installed the Tera2Lo which allows you to shift between 2Lo and 4Lo on the fly. A must have add-on at low cost. I haven't had any problems with it and the sticking and pulling power of adding a front locker is awesome. Highly recommended. I have done many of the 4+ trails and haven't had any problems.

(So sheltered.) If I can find the right
Circle K, count me in for Gila Monster...

list (how many e-mails per day and delivery options)
Have a good weekend,
- Mike

By the way, I was going through my tire pile and found a Big O MT 33 x 12.5 I had completely forgotten about, so now have a near new (90% tread left), spare.

Hi Scott,
like your pics, however you might want to post some

great. but the overall is yet to be seen. Of course it
really doesn't matter, your rig will most likely be
seen on the trails sooner than mine will ( bad
