Patrick Waite came in from Calif. by way of Moab thur. He had a trip posted for TM on fri and I was the only one to sign up. Pat has not run TM since last year about this time when we had a ton of water and was not sure of where the trail was. I had never been to TM so no help.
We pulled up off the pavement to meet a couple guys with a CJ5 on a trailer and asked what they were going to run. Their names were Rick and Mark and they were going shooting but having done Terminator before, they agreed to show us where it was & go with us through Lower before they bailed to go shooting.
Well we could not have met two nicer guys if we advertised. So, a CJ5, Pat's CJ7 and my TJ did Lower T. The guys then pulled out to go shooting and Pat & I did Upper T, kind of a let down after the lower portion. We all had a great time and I just loved Lower T. Pat is a great driver and spotter and we all got through with no problems.
Pat and I then drove to the river and crossed over to a large sandy area just above the river where Pat had remembered seeing a TJ abandoned in the middle of the river last year. After a short time here come our shooters on their way out. They set up, broke out the guns and offered to let us shoot. They had shotguns, clays, pistols and an AR-15. I got to shoot the AR-15 and a Benelli 12 gauge and even though these guys don't reload they policed up the area as we were shooting. They even picked up my Glock empties before I could and they refused to let us pay for the ammo we used. If we had more shooters like Rick & Mark there would not be so much shot up junk laying around the desert.
Oh! I forgot to mention when Pat and I pulled out of the upper wash I found a soft side cooler full of about 18 Bud Lights and ice. We tried to find who lost it but with no luck. Personally, I think it was just DM watching over us on the trail since he isn't running them anymore.
All together just a great day wheeling and I got to meet three first class people. I hope I can do it again sometime, they are out there.
