Also along the skid plating question... I am getting ready to 'turtle shell'
my oil pan with some metal plates. I know a few people have done this but I
was wondering how you welded the metal to the curved pan. I have the welder
and the saw to shape everything but was thinking I was going to have to take
my intimidator hammer and bang the pan on all sides to get it squared....

The belly-up skid will raise the t-case output so you should do that
first and then measure for the new driveshaft length.

I would bend the metal to the shape of the oil pan but that process is way
out of reach. A metal bender is way expensive. I would love to have one
though! I don't want to reinforce it up to the engine because I don't want
my pan to take a hit and crack my engine block. I was only thinking of
'reshaping' the pan on the bottom and up about 8 inches or so with the
hammer. Not anywhere near the mount.

Yes Moser engineering. Be sure to get the studs included. I found it
almost impossible to find them at a parts store or the dealership since they
are also upgraded. The nice thing about this swap is that you can retain
your factory setup and the axles you remove become spares. plus the cromoly
ones are 4 times stronger and still 2 times as strong as the D44 ones . I
am running locked, 4.56's and 36inch swampers and have had no problems with
my axles since upgrading.

Ok so light get in mirrors. No matter how far back you are. you go up and
down and at some point in time they are going to point at the person in front

Being that we need to see to avoid tearing up our own vehicles lights are a

deal with it.
alot of talk about whats necessary and all
ONE thing that isn't necessary is mirrors. If you'd point them away from

I would bend the metal to the shape of the oil pan but that process is way
out of reach. A metal bender is way expensive. I would love to have one

my pan to take a hit and crack my engine block. I was only thinking of

No matter how far back you are. you go up and
down and at some point in time they are going to point at the person in front
of you. it going to hit the mirrors and hit their eyeballs.
Being that we need to see to avoid tearing up our own vehicles lights are a
must. People know that and know on night runs that they are going to have to
deal with it.
alot of talk about whats necessary and all
ONE thing that isn't necessary is mirrors. If you'd point them away from
your eyes. the light from behind wont hit you. and being that we dont worry
about lane changes and all. I think we'll be ok.
SEEMS simple doesn't it. ok solved that issue whens the next night

A pal of mine with a 90 YJ (4.1L) is having some trouble. His jeep will
stall at idle speed everytime. Starting coming downhill from a trail Friday
night, ran on level ground for a day or so. Now won't idle at all. Will
run if you keep the gas up.
Anyone have and idea where to start looking?
Thanks in advance

does anyone have a front drive shaft for a yj they would like to get
rid of for a good price? I bent mine pretty bad yesterday at squeeze
rock(sycamore creek), and being locked up I had to take it off. I
probably have to tighten all of my bolts after the ride home. I think
my exhaust was making a weak spot on my drive shaft from rubbing
against it. thats is where it bent. anyway thanks for helping.

I just bought a Powertrax No-Slip for the Dana 35 and I'm going

the install? It looks pretty straight forward (no pun intended) so I
think I'm all set. I plan on upgrading those shafts to the Moser

BTW, I got the locker at Desert Rat, and the manager there said
that he would hook me up w/ a discount for this club's membership. I
didn't know Desert Rat did that, but was pleasantly surprised.
Thanks, Desert Rat.

I would stay away from Desert Rat for having work done, I think a
couple of other members would say the same thing. But if they give
you a good deal on parts then that is ok. Trying to deal with them
on the customer service end of things sucks, at least my experiences
with them. Make sure you follow the install intsructions exactly,
check the tolerances with the plastic feeler-guage thingy Powertrax
supplies. I am on my second powertrax no-slip locker, they build a
solid unit.
