Simon, Cole and Surf's Project Flattie........Well as some know, 4 Wheelers has a few old Willys flat fenders. Two inparticular were featured in several magazines from the 60's to the 80's. Both very unique with matching trailers. The red one was brought back to life about 3 years ago and the yellow one is our new project. It's a CJ3A with a 225 odd fire, turbo 400, dana 20 t.case. It has been sitting for around 10-15 years and we have been itching to revive it!:D More pics to come. Cole

What a mess. It took me longer to get the old leaves and trash out of it than it took Cole and Surf to drop both tanks and yank the carb. Now my garage smell like 10 year old gas. Yuck! This Jeep is weathered but it will come back nice. How about that, I went a whole 3 days without a Jeep. :)

Thanks, well Simon rebuilt the carb last night. We got the tanks all cleaned out(not as bad as we thought the were gonna be). We have tracked down some odds and ends hoses for both fuel and h2o lines. Fresh Optima and we might crank her tonight or tomorrow:D :D :D Let ya know how she runs after sitting a few years:eek:

Been meaning to ask Bryan what had happened to Yellow. I was lucky enough to drive it (had to do a delivery/pickup and for some reason the regular truck was not available.... DARN!:D ) about 20 years ago:eek: .
With super thin/short springs it dosen't articulate great, but I have to say it was one of the most fun rides I have ever driven! Joe (service dept) has one that looks very similar (super sweet) and he (to the best of my knowlege) still drives it occasionally to work.
Can't wait to see it (again).
Maybe a Flattie run out to the Coves some day?

Well after MANY long hours of tracking down my ignition problem, I yanked out the MSD box and ran it down to Lopers. They tested it and it was bad. :D  Well here I go back out to the garage. :)

Something to check (unfortuneatly have learned by experience:mad: ): pull diff covers... if has set for extended time condensation forms on (non subsmerged surfaces) of differential (expecially ring gear). Although rotation will clean rust crap off, can get lodged and burn up bearings.
Was roundup '98 the last time it was run (if I remember correctly Simon drove it, Stephanie (now 8) was 3months old strapped in my CJ7 )?

HMMM.......Seem to remember an old 4 Wheeler magazine article that it was included in. It was entitled Hot Jeeps of Arizona and if I remember correctly, ran sometime in the late 80's. I've still got the article if'n ya don't have and still want a copy of it. WHEW! talk about old shool stuff. Ya just have to luv it.
Hey Olney.........a jeep that you didn't rollover.......
SIDENOTE: Careful what you do with it, or John will be rolling over............again.

Not very often any more. Well after 1 trip I parked the old flatie again. Going from 16" of wheel travel in my purple Jeep to 5" of travel in the flatie got old real fast. I turned the keys over to Cole after 1 hour of wheeling. Short wheelbase,no wheel travel and low horsepower SUCKS.:)

Now c'mon Simon. Ya got to remember that there is an art to 'wheel'n a little short flattie. Lots of time danc'n in the the air on three legs, alcohol injjection, youth and very little brain cells left. And i'm living proof of the above requirements. Of course my DJ's wheelbase has been supersized all the way out to 86". The no power thing just equates to less broken parts.

Cool! I remember seeing and drooling over that Jeep circa '93-'94 when I was buying parts to keep my '48 Willys Pickup on the road!
