I was out there on Monday and was disturbed at the amount of trash, especially around the first cove. Do you think there might be some interest among the members who might have more capable pickups who could get in there to haul stuff out? I would certainly be willing to fill the back of Jeep and to help fill the pickups up. I look forward to reading your responses.

Haven't got that far yet re: date or time. Just trying to see how the thoughts might run at this point. I am wondering if the Forest Service might not help too. I plan to call them in a few minutes.

You'll need to arrange this with the Forest Service. They usually provide bags but most importantly, unless you plan on hauling it all out yourself, they provide a barge service to pick up the collected trash.

Contact Jason Scow at the USFS Mesa District office - 480-610-3331.

I think the last official cleanup was in September, during the fire closure. I'm sure it's time.

There was no one at the Mesa Ranger Station this morning to provide an answer to this question: Can the FS help with a truck to haul trash from a centralized location or other types of assistance if we are able to get the stuff picked up, but I left a message to be called back. I will try a followup call later today.

I just spoke with Jason and he gave me instructions. They will bring in the barge as predicted. All we need to do is set a date and get a list of participants. Let's do this. I will try to coordinate with the FS, all you guys have to do is commit to a date. Thanks. This will be fun.

Awesome. As always, please be sure to take pics. And if you don't mind, share them the AZOHVC (Arizona Off Highway Vehicle Coalition) - http://www.azohv.com). We need all the positive press we can get.

Come to think of it, get ahold of Steve Carmickle over there and maybe it could be an AZVJC/AZOHVC cleanup event.

Steve Carmickle,
President AZOHVC

AZOHVC participation gives them positive press too. They're fighting for our OHV rights in Arizona.

I am thinking sooner rather than later. Since I am retired and not subject to a work schedule I can look at and suggest any day from 19 March through the 31st of March EXCEPT the 21st and the 24th of March. Please let me know if there are any dates in there that most of you can go. These dates are 19,20, 23, and 25-31. I am hoping that with a reasonable range of dates we can set a date soon. Thanks for the support.

This sounds good and is probably well needed. Be sure to post the date both here and at azvjc.org

My plan at this point is to give this a couple of nights for the guys who access the site after work to give the idea some thought. One of you has posted that April 15th would also be good. My intention is to get things rolling well before that, but that also doesn't mean that we can't do another similar trip in the middle of April. Good so far for such a short time, keep those posts coming.
