Hi,
I just looked at the traffic for the azvjc yahoo groups email majordomo, and traffic has dropped of substantially. Did Yahoo Groups change something to cause people not to use the email azvjc? Anyone still on the email version of azvjc know why traffic is so low?

All I get from there is SPAM (at least from avjcOT). I am going to remove my self from that email list.

Looks like traffic/posts have just tapered off...
(sorry, didn't feel like exporting/importing as a table :) )

I think that this BBS has influenced those numbers. Has the BBS post count increased across the same time frame?
I remember the divisiveness of the whole maillist/BBS debate. I wonder if some of the die hard maillisters have been dropping off? Or, do the new members have a tendency to use the BBS format?

Posts to the BBS have grown from an average of around 25 per day when we started to just over 300 per day now... with no signs of anything tapering off.
It is difficult to tell if part of this is the die-hard email users migrating to the BBS format or if it is simply new people running into the forum. I'd tend to believe that not many of the azvjc email users would still be migrating to the forum almost two years after it's inception, but you never know.
I don't think the BBS ended up being as divisive as some people thought it would be... I think the two formats worked pretty well together. One thing is for sure... the transition had some pretty rough spots and some people were pretty angry. The bottom line is; we all did the best we could and it is clear that the BBS maintains the original essence of the email majordomo... perhaps even more so now that the majordomo is tapering off.

Based on Matt's numbers (I have too much time on my hands and wanted to see if I could still use Excel):

So a downward trend with levels that haven't been seen since pre-2000.

Graphs are lovely.
Any explanation on the apparent spike in traffic around August? Some event maybe?

If I read James' graph properly, each line is a different year (no color legend so unsure which year is which), so the August spikes are a yearly phenomenon (most years). To that end, I'd venture to say August heat played a big part. Folks stayed home and web-wheeled instead of baking in the Sun :)

Do the new Jeep models come out in August?

There is a color legend on the right hand side but you have it right.
As to not wheeling in the heat, you may be right there. but I have just one word: wussies. We live in a friggin' desert. Deal with it people.

August = Annual Crown King Run ?
Just a WAG (wild *** guess)
BTW, not trying to bring up any old hard feelings, but this forum format is way better than Yahoo groups in my opinion. I'd say about 1.75 million times better.........

James' chart got me interested, so I broke out Excel and made another that gives a "rise and fall" view. The months on the X axis (bottom) are Aug/Nov/Feb/May. If it were a stock, you should have sold back in 2002 :)
