View Full Version : ARB Switch is dead

I need some thoughts on what might be the problem here.

My ARB Switch is not firing up the compressor when I engage it. The problem started a few weeks ago after I installed some rock lights. The switch would intermittently fire up the compressor. I was trying it every so often to see if it worked and it was working 50% of the time. I got out on the trail and engaged the switch and nothing happened after numerous attempts. While out there, I changed out the compressor switch with a brand new one and it worked perfectly afterwards and for the rest of the night.

I just tried it again today and its dead again. I thought it was the switch but just replaced it. I'm wondering if it could be the compressor or the wiring. Afterall, a few of us just added some rock lights and put the switches right by the ARB switches. I double checked the wiring and everything looks good. Its a sea of wires though.

I'm considering taking it to a shop but want to do that as a last resort. I'd like to get this fixed myself. And hopefully you guys could help point me in the right direction.

Thanks

When it is not working see if you have power to switch and out of switch

When it is not working see if you have power to switch and out of switch

Get a cheap test light, hit your switch and then check for power going into the compressor. If you have power, check your ground. If your ground is good, your compressor is starting to fail. If you have no power, work your way back to the switch, also checking around your relay. See if it "clicks" when you hit the switch.

From my experience, it doesn't matter which end you start from, the problem will always be at the other end.:D So good luck.

check the solenoid on the ARB compressor.

Check the ground at or near the relay. Especially if the ground/relay for your rock lights is in the same locale...Good luck.
